Kohaku's famous Trainer Academy is famous for churning out top tier battlers. It's also famous for its competitive environment and callous disregard for struggling students. The scourge has already eliminated many of its best and brightest. While there's no doubt that another generation of trainers can rise to fame, it's less certain that a new batch of trainers will learn fast enough to save the region from the scourge.
