This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

it wasn't hard to see why J had made a beeline for the feronia museum after reaching hespera. it was filled to the brim with fossils, and he really liked fossils. he glanced through the glass cases, and studied several specimens of the fossils he didn't have yet.
thalia was not a big fan of fossils, but she was a big fan of killing time, which was how she'd ended up here in the museum. she wondered if she ought to be surprised at stumbling across j, but decided against it. she wasn't sure how many locals and refugees would be interested in fossils right now, and considering how the other EOS trainer was staring through the glass--
"do you want me to drive the getaway car for when you put your fist through the glass and run off with that specimen?" she asked, only half-joking.
"an EOS trainer admitting to criminal conspiracy? what can the world be coming to?"
she walked over to stand next to him and look at the display.
"i guess it isn't that far a jump from "steel type trainer" to "fondly gazing at long dead pokemon we think we can bring back to life in a fit of human hubris." do you have any fossil pokemon of your own, or are you just an admirer? i know i always wanted an aerodactyl. cliche, but they're cool. couldn't ever find one i could get my hands on though."
"it's a collection. like how some people want a set of all the turtle pokémon. i want a set of all the fossils, and once i've collected them all, it's time to move on.
"for steel-types i guess i collect what i like," said the trainer. he didn't know how or what determined the next set to collect. "fossils are a set, and i suppose i can collect all the eeveelutions, too.
J glanced at the old amber glistening in its casing.
"you should collect a herd of slowpoke. slowpoke are really cute. plus aren't they endangered? i think i read a news article about that in johto, a few years ago. all those rich people who like the taste of slowpoke tails. you can open up a shelter."
