The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

They had orders to retreat. The humans that worked with them, and the genius metagrossi and alakazams running strategy, they all said pull back--retreat.
These scourge don't know how to retreat. It's not in their blood. It's not in their disease.
The ran rampant at the edges of Bellona Hills, crashing through destroyed mansions and raiding the last remaining people and pokemon of their flesh and bones for supper. Yet, they were still hungry, for food and for fight.
There was was, in Bellona Hills, looking for scourge pokemon. Was she crazy? Slightly. But after that fight in Ceres Emily knew she and her pokemon could take the scourge on by themselves. But she did have Briar's number on hand just in case things did get too bad. But she didn't need to rely on him for everything; this was something she needed to do on her own.
"Be on the lookout." the trainer whispered, and the pokemon around her nodded. It was only seconds later that Blaze growled out as three scourge pokemon appeared before them out of nowhere. "Hey! You lookin' for a fight?!"
They were, in fact, looking for a fight, although that wasn't quite accurate. They were looking for blood and flesh and an outlet for their aggression too, but that wasn't all.
They were looking for a challenge to overcome, that sick adrenaline rush that only risking their lives could give them.
Of course she was scared. Her hands trembled slightly, but she tried to hide them. Any sign of weakness would only spur the scourge pokemon further. She'd been the one to antagonize them; she needed to now kill them.

Regina heard the fighting and saw her old friend from Ceres forest. She could make out the girl dashing under cover, a slew of familiar, older vaccinated pokemon locked arms with mass of zombies. Regina hurried over to the lady, grabbing her arm.
"This is insane, you're really trying to fight all of them by yourself?!?" They had to escape, but not like this. Not with her friend's pokemon remaining behind, even though, if it came down to her pokemon or emily's....
Quickly, she threw out some pokemon, regardless, because the trainer had helped her a ton with her research. Amos hopped out, always the soldier these days. Skull panted heavily with pent up anger at the sight of the luxray and its mouth which dripped with black salivia. Meanwhile, Regina flipped out her pokedex and logged the fiend feraligator with its snapping jaws. She had been hoping to watch the scourge hidden, their activities curious, but she didn't even know Emily was in town. And here she was.
lvl 38 amos used thunderwave and shockwave on feraligator. he used discharge on all the scourge pokemon (sp atk bonus)
lvl 34 skull used growl and bonemerang + acc bonus on the luxray
lvl 32 ol' dan nosed out the whimsicott and charged into the fray. it used howl and then fire fang on the whimsicott.
lvl 37 leonardo spewed mist onto its allies and then dug into to the earth.

When Emily woke from her apparent slumber, she looked over to Regina. When had she gotten there? This wasn't a dream? Shit. "H-hey! I...I don't knot what came over me. When you and everyone I've met told me about the scourge killing their friends and family and dreams...I just had to attack them!"
Not that she could have defeated them on her own.

"Damnit," Regina muttered as she whipped her fierce look away from Emily to the battle. She withdrawing her KO'd Houndoom and Cubone and throwing out the Skarmory. It Lifted its metal tipped wings into the air. "You know, this is nearly a death wish. We need to get out of here! If we could just get to my lab - it's safe there-" With her pokedex, she grabbed an entry of the zombie whimsicott, and its manic fluff.
