This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Proserpina was...well, it was a big place, suffice it to say. And Luna had yet to adjust to it, really, which, really, was not a surprise to her at all. Back on her other missions, in wars and in assassinations, she was easily distracted by things. Easily lost. That was doubly so here with the way the Spinda she had gotten was acting. She wasn't really used to pokemon, but if they were all like this? Well, the girl was sure she'd like them a lot.
The normal-type was wobbling around as they walked, trying to find their way back to SOME part of the city that they recognized, and she was just generally making it difficult for Luna to not giggle at her. As it was, she was just barely managing to restrain herself, and...oh, what was that? Distracted again, Luna looked away from her pokemon and stopped in her tracks. It looked like an abandoned warehouse! How unusual. She had heard some people talking about it. Apparently it had been abandoned, and now was home to tons of wild pokemon. Ooh, maybe that'd be a good idea?
To make sure she had more than a single pokemon before she went out of the safety of the city. There was no telling when the Scourge might strike, after all. With that thought in mind, it didn't take much trouble at all for her to enter into the warehouse, her Spinda managing to stand as still as Luna was once they actually got inside and looked around.
A soft wailing echoed through the warehouse, a strange sniffling sound that was out of place amongst the hushed chatter of the pokemon that called the area home. The crackle of electricity accompanied the noises as a small pichu pushed itself into a corner against a few crates.
The pokemon in the warehouse could be cruel -- the larger ones, even moreso. With terrified glances at the surroundings, the pichu attempted to make itself as small as possible. Hopefully, it wouldn't be noticed by its pursuers.
It was difficult to make out where, exactly, the wailing was coming from. It would have been downright impossible, actually, were it not for the crackles of electricity that accompanied the sounds. With that, it made Luna's job a million times easier, and as stealthily as possible (well, as stealthy as a girl with a Spinda could be), Luna followed the sound to its source, only to find...well, a wailing Pichu cuddled into a corner against a few crates.
Her heart broke at the sight of it, and she moved forward a little, but thought better of it. No matter how cute it was, something was terrifying the poor dear, so she stopped herself and instead squatted down, peering at the Pichu. "What's wrong?" she asked of the pokemon, trying her best to use a soothing voice while her Spinda, as disoriented as it seemed, kept an eye out for any threats.
The pichu flinched as the human and pokemon -- strange, weird, tottering pokemon -- came near, electricity sparking from its scarlet cheeks. With a choked sniffle, the pokemon stared at Luna with wide eyes. There was no response from the electric mouse except the scratching of its small paws against the concrete ground.
Then the pokemon trembled, wailed loudly, and attacked with two bursts of electricity. The energy shot through the air at the spinda, leaving the terrified pokemon's yellow fur on end.
She had figured that would have happened, but she was hoping the Pichu wouldn't attack. That way they could just talk it out, but nope. Oh well. Hopefully it wasn't too strong, and hopefully her Spinda was up to the task of beating the electric mouse. Still, Luna was curious about what had it spooked, but there was no time to consider that. She leaped backwards a little, just so she wouldn't get caught up in the battle between the two pokemon. "Try and dodge the Thunder Wave, Totter!" she ordered, recognizing it as the far more dangerous attack. A simple attack could be taken, but that?
It'd slow her pokemon down and give a chance for it to not attack each turn. Her Spinda did as ordered and dropped to the ground to evade the wave, though she let out a cry as the Thundershock hit her. "Retaliate with Psycho Cut!" she ordered, watching as her Spinda picked herself up and rushed the Pichu, a Psycho Cut aimed towards it.
"We don't hafta fight you know!" Luna tried reasoning. With a wild pokemon...like that ever turned out well.

The pokemon cried out as the attack hit, releasing another wave of electricity. (Why -- why did everyone attack?) Disregarding Luna's words (they weren't to be trusted!), the pichu could only wag its tail at the spinda and try to find a way out, clawing at the crates that were boxing it in.
Luna bit her lip as the tiny pichu cried out. She didn't want to hurt the small electric pokemon, but when it attacked...she didn't have much of a choice at all, did she? Luna didn't like this at all, but that was just how it had to be. "Copycat!" Luna ordered, her spinda suddenly turning and whipping her tail at the pichu as well, before letting the electric attack that had still been traveling hit her. That was...twice now. Luna frowned.
Could her spinda take another 3 hits, or could an Uproar settle the pichu down and weaken it? "Uproar!" she made an executive decision. Besides, her spinda wouldn't have to get hit by ALL The attacks. With that in mind, she watched as her spinda began to totter around, letting out cries and sending a soundwave towards the pichu.

It pressed hits paws to its oversized ears, crying as it collapsed in a small heap on the ground. It was unable to fight any longer, and lay there trembling and staring up at the spinda in fear. Was this it?

Was it...crying? Oh...oh now she felt even more awful, and briefly she thought it might be an act. But no, she could see the terror in the poor creature's eyes, and if she was to get shocked because it was still terrified...so be it. Before the poor thing got any more terrified, Luna pulled out a pokeball and returned her spinda, before gently approaching the creature and squatting down again, a look of pity on her face as she stared at it. "I meant what I said before. I didn't really wanna hurt you," she was speaking in a soothing tone again, putting the thought of getting shocked out of her mind. She couldn't let any fear seep into her tone.
"Look, it's scary here, right? You could come with me. I'd treat you right and make sure you were happy." she offered, still with that gentle tone, as she made a big show out of pulling out a pokeball, mostly so the pichu was completely aware of it and didn't think she was trying to hide the ball. She only wanted to show it to the creature, not to catch it. Not yet, at least. She didn't want ANY pokemon she caught hating her, even if in the end they grew to like her.
The pokemon's sobbing subsided to hiccuping sniffles as it stared at Luna, its eyes focused on the pokeball in her hand. There was very little trust in its gaze -- no, not anymore -- and the electric mouse attempted to release another attack with a pained groan.
The sparks fizzled and died instantly.
It squeezed its eyes shut. It was clear that the pichu expected one last, final attack.
Luna frowned a little bit and, as a show of good faith, but the pokeball on the ground next to her, making sure it wouldn't just roll off before she looked back at the small creature. "I'm sorry for having to fight you," she said, honestly, her heart breaking as she tried her best to not break down at the sight of the terrified pokemon.
Tentatively, the girl reached forward and, instead of an attack like the creature probably expected, Luna instead rubbed it on the head, hoping that would calm it down a little. "I'd be scared too, honestly." she confided in it. What with the Scourge running around and all the other pokemon that had to be stronger than it...? Luna couldn't blame the pichu, not at all.
Squeak. One small sound of terror, cut off abruptly when Luna began to rub its head. The pichu nervously opened a single eye at the comforting motion. It was still waiting for the attack that wouldn't come, but couldn't muster the energy to push the human's hand away.
The pichu remained still for a few more moments before slowly opening the other eye. What was going on?
The pichu probably didn't know it, but it was very good at making Luna feel just awful for engaging in a fight with it. Sure, it had attacked first, but the way it was acting...well, it was tough for the girl to not feel a little bad, at the very least. Still, she seemed to be making progress, and when the small mouse pokemon opened the other eye, Luna gave a small smile.
"See? I ain't here to do anything awful to you, honest. I just wanted to see what the noise was." she explained, wondering how she'd convince the pichu to come with her. Even if she was not as afraid now, she still would probably be afraid of the pokeball.
The pichu didn't understand everything Luna said -- it hadn't spent enough time around humans, obviously -- but the gist of the message was clear. The pichu tentatively relaxed, then blinked inquisitively. What did this human want?
Well it was a lot more relaxed now, it seemed. Nervously, unable to hide the fear of scaring the pichu again, Luna reached over and picked up the pokeball again in one of her hands, making sure the pichu could clearly see it. Then with her other hand, she offered it to the pichu and made what could best be described as a 'come here' gesture. It was the best way she could think of to offer to the pichu to come with her without using any words which it couldn't understand.
