This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

It had been some time since Xylon had bothered to train. He never liked it, it was just a bit too much work for him. He would rather be out doing battles, or bothering to do anything else. Tinkerbell, on the other hand, was eager to train. He wanted to grow stronger, he didn't want to be beaten.
So the pair, they trained much more, and much harder than they had ever trained before. It took hours, they were there from sunset to sunrise. Xylon wiped his brow for sweat. Tinkerbell - who originally started out as a parody - had started to grow on him, not that he'd say that aloud ever. He liked Oddishes better anyway, kinda.
Tinkerbell tugged on his pants.
"Yeah, we can go now, we're finished for the night."
Helvetica decided training would be the best way to spend her day, but Dex on the other hand wasn't really up for the challenge. She climbed - or at least tried - up a tree. Within moments, she was having trouble sitting on her branch. Heal could see her fingers curl around tightly around the branch. She was sure that it wasn't going to break on her, it looked sturdy enough.
Dex - even though it had been months since she came into the world, and she had fully evolved - hadn't accepted the fact that she didn't have wings. She couldn't fly, nor did she know any flying type moves.
"Come down from there." Heal tapped her foot against the ground.
Dex stuck her tongue out at her trainer.
"Please? We have to get to training."
Dex shook her head violently.
"Don't make me come up there, Dex! You know I will too, I'll chase you around that damn tree." Helvetica was rather serious. The swampert, noticing the shift in her trainer's voice, slowly made her way down.
When she finally got down, Heal patted her on the head, and praised her for coming down. "Do you wanna swim?" Dex nodded her head. Even though she thought she was a flying type, she was truly a water type at heart and couldn't resist the chance to jump in it.
Within minutes, Heal was in her swimsuit, and Dex had jumped in the water. They started doing laps around the perimeter, but after awhile, that became boring. They started playing with each other, Dex sprayed water at Heal, and Heal splashed her pokemon. They took turns chasing each other, they had fun.
He'd never pick the Tinkerbell up ever. So even after a long day of walking, the Pokemon would have to endure even more in the dream world. Xylon wasn't here to pamper him. Sometimes he didn't exactly understand his exhaustion, Xylon from the very time he could remember, had been walking. He had traveled most of Kohaku by the time he was seven. His parents rarely, if ever, stopped for luxuries. His bed was a sleeping bag, and his room was a tent.
"You can run the track, Tinkerbell." He urged his Pokemon. "If you give up now, I'll make you run it fifty times over, you understand?" The ranger didn't threaten, he promised. "I'll make you run the whole way to Di Manes Caverns too." That caused the Gothita to stand up straight and keep on going. He moved his tiny legs faster than he had before, good.
Today isn't a good day, and its obvious by the way she snaps at Cypress when he does the opposite of what she wants him to do. She instantly regrets it, she feels terrible, as though a part of her was ripped out when she yelled. She apologizes over and over, Cypress just nods in his wise understanding. Helvetica wishes she could be like him. She'll learn though.
It dawns on her, that this training session isn't so much for the flying type as it is for her. This is her chance to improve along side her pokemon, and she takes it more serious than she ever had really done before.
It takes her hours, she runs with the fifty some odd pound predator pokemon on her shoulder, trying her best not to lose her balance.
Cypress doesn't move, he doesn't fly away when she starts to lose her balance, because he trusts her. He trusts her to regain herself, to not let him fall.
Maybe its wrong to be codependent on each other, but maybe its just how they needed to work to survive this scourge.
In Xylon's dreams, he doesn't appear any different than he is now. Perhaps its because he's content with himself, or perhaps that it just so happens that he likes his imperfection. Who knows. This wasn't a vanity trip though, Xylon was here to actually get shit done.
He was here to train Tinkerbell. Training however turned into a test of mental fortitude as they engaged in a battle of the centuries, a staring contest.
Tinkerbell lost, Xylon won, then they ran around for awhile and did things.
There was something odd, almost cruel about the air. She supposed it had to do with her day, traveling through pax wasn't the brightest of things. She still felt on edge even now, in the dream world, with her body safely tucked away in an inn.
Dex sensed it too. She always did. She couldn't figure out that she was meant for the ocean, but somehow she could figure out what Helvetica was feeling. Heal shook her head. Everyday someone would tell her that they were winning but that wasn't true. Any day the scourge with the right organization could overtake them all.
Damn it all.
Dex purposed training and Heal went along with it. She'd fix this blasted world, that was a promise.
People were strange to Xylon, civilization was just as odd. That might be why he took such solace in the wilderness the dream realm created for him. For both him and Tink, who was once again, turning out to be a much better companion than what Xylon had originally pegged him to be. "You're lifting objects off the ground." He said.
He pointed to the tree, and a boulder next to it. "I'm going to climb that damn tree, and you're going to levitate it as high as I am. When I wait, you wait. This is a test of endurance." So they went on, and sadly, Xylon was kinda disappointed with how long Tinkerbell could hold it.
Ah, it had been a while since Florance had done any training. She was relieved to find out that as a breeder she could still train her Pokemon. Asgard - her cottonee - had decided to join her.
She was at a loss at what exactly to do. it had been so long since she had done anything. Her cottonee was excited, and Florance decided that she'd have her run laps, but when Asgard made noises in protest of such a thing, Florance gave in.
The day turned out to just be Florancee sitting in the grass watching her cottonee play in the flowers. Oy, just oy.
