This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

William had finally arrived at the first destination on his journey, Cypress Labs. His whole body shook with anticipation as he stood in the doorway that would lead to the rest of his life. He had waited far too long for this moment, and refused to wait even a minute more.
William slammed his hand against the door, announcing his arrival. "Hey Professor, are you in?! I was hoping to get my first pokemon today!"
There was a distinct clatter behind the closed door; Cypress had jumped in surprise at the sudden slam against the door, and now there was an overturned cart and pokeballs rolling every which way.
He scrambled around for a few moments, attempting to herd as many as he could to the side, before adjusting his glasses and going to open the door. "Y-yes, I'm here," he said, more than a bit frazzled. "W-was that ... no, no, n-nevermind." He shook his head, sighing. "Do come in, come in."
The professor walked away from the door, gesturing for William to enter, before stepping on a stay pokeball and falling to the ground with a flail of limbs and surprised squawk.
Just beyond the door William could hear a yell followed by a clatter and the sound of several somethings rolling around. Moments later an exhausted and disheveled looking man opened the door and quickly ushered him in, slipping on a loose pokeball and dropping to the floor as he stepped away.
"Shit, are you alright?" Stifling his laugh, William extended his hand to help the man up. "You must be the Professor.I'm William Knight. I was hoping you could help me out and give me starter.
He waved an arm through the air, hastily scrambling to his feet. "Y-yes, I think -- you're, um, William? Day? William Day?" ... No, that wasn't it.
"A-anyway!" He stood up, smoothing his crumpled coat and realigning the glasses on the bridge of his nose. "Pokemon, right? Y-yes, it's, um ..." Cypress paled. "W-well, they're ..."
... All over the floor.
Cypress bent down to pick up the scattered pokeballs. "I-I'm sorry, but could you, um, help?" he asked weakly.
"Actually my name is... nevermind." He didn't really care what he was called as long as he was able to get his pokemon and get on his way.
"Uh sure, I guess I should help. It's the least I could do at least. " William picked up the toppled cart, and then began pitching up the pokeballs And replacing them in the slots on cart."I'm guessing these go here? "
tuyet OOC: Sorry about the delayed post. I'm out of town and it's hard to/short post from my phone.
"Yes, yes - thank you s-so much!" Cypress tried to gather the pokeballs as quickly as he could, taking care to not trip a second time -- poor William had been waiting long enough.
When the pokeballs were back on the cart, he heaved a relieved sigh and grabbed a small pamphlet, handing it to the trainer-to-be.
William placed the last pokeball he had found back onto the cart. "Sure, no problem."
He read over the pamphlet he had been handed. There were several amazing options here, but one immediately stood out to him and he knew it was the one."I'll Take the Elekid, please! I think he'll make the perfect first pokemon!" He gave back the pamphlet and held out his hand to receive his new partner.
Upon receiving his new friend he placed the pokeball on his belt and graciously thanked the man. He then left for his next destination, Proserpina City!
The professor handed him the pokeball along with a bag, smiling tiredly. "G-good luck out there!" He'll need it. "I hope -- I hope you stay, um, s-safe!"
