This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

at least she's able to work and talk at the same time. instead of ignoring him, she decides to try something else while she beats the eggs (the yolks might be a little separate from the whites still, but sophia didn't really see the problem).
"so what happens if you're stuck here for a long time? do you sleep on the counter?"
"you...you actually sleep in the kitchen" she turns back to her work, facing away from batin in case she starts laughing. her shoulders probably give her away. sophia isn't quite sure what she expected.
eventually, she gets far enough to pop the quiche in the oven, and she does set a timer so that she doesn't leave it in the oven for a decade.
sophia doesn't tell him about how long it took her to find out about castle forlorn's physical realm. that's not something that anybody needs to know.
"i was defending the rift." it isn't exactly a lie. she was, just not intentionally.
dzyDNKib 1-40 just as planned, comes out in 40 min 41-70 the land fucks with cooking time and the quiche probably needs to come out in the next ten seconds 71-100 the land fucks with cooking time and the quiche probably needs to come out in the next ten minutes
she doesn't even bother looking at him anymore. instead, she settles into the memoir of the olivine sea captain, the one that she was reading before the delibird had come out of the oven. "you're the one who told me to keep it in there for forty minutes, and that oven is standard." she keeps her eyes on the page. "we both know that you're not going to eat it, so why ask?"
there's a faint burning smell coming from the oven. to her credit, sophia actually looks up to glance at the oven timer. she feels kind of silly for doing so, since there's no way that it could have been forty minutes.
it hasn't gone off, as expected.
she stares at the oven, wondering if it is something to be concerned about. probably not.
