This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Nima rubs the back of her head sheepishly, and Ahuda grins at her friend. Well, a Rapidash would certainly be welcome in this cold, and there's no time like now to see if a Rapidash's fire really didn't burn when they didn't want it to. She's always been curious about it, but fire-type pokemon are been discouraged in Ceres.
"Well, as long as he doesn't mind, it's fine, right?" she says with a smile, and nods at her partner when she comes back with her books in her arms. The Mienfoo drops off her and Ahuda's own into the bag that the ranger had with her, handing Nima's to her with a solemn nod. Ahuda lets the researcher take care of them, before standing up and motioning to the door. "Shall we?" she asks, eager for hot chocolate. Because chocolate.
Nima nodded brightly. “Exactly! Phoenix likes being out and about, even in this weather.” That was a good point, as long as Phoenix was alright with it, there was no reason to feel bad! Madonna was back then, books in tow, and Nima took his gratefully with a smile. Stuffing them into his own bag (which was rather overstuffed as it was with notebooks and paper and all his poke balls and items), he made to stand. “Yes let’s!” Ahuda wasn’t the only one excited for the hot chocolate!
Leading the way, Nima scrunched into his scarf even before they hit the cold air. Once outdoors he wasted little time in fishing out Phoenix’s ball and releasing him into the frigid wind. The fire pokemon, unphased, tossed his head happily with a cry. And then immediately nuzzled Nima, whom giggled and scratched under his chin. Once the fire horse’s large doe eyes spotted Ahuda and Madonna, he nickered gleefully and moved to ‘introduce’ himself to them. Which, as it turned out, involved more warm nuzzling.
They were out the door in good time, and as Ahuda wrapped her scarf more tightly around herself Nima was releasing her Rapidash into the snow-coated streets. With a grin Ahuda weathered the nuzzling, delighted to find that their fires really didn't burn if they didn't want them to. That was nice - and cool, pardon the pun - to know. "Hello there," she said, laughing, and paused to stroke the horse's neck.
Madonna, on the other hand, only endured it for a moment before pushing her fellow pokemon back. Please don't, she stated simply, and proceeded to move away (read: hide) from the Rapidash. "Come on, Madonna," Ahuda said, grinning at the Mienfoo. When the pokemon shook her head resolutely, the ranger sighed and turned to Nima with another grin instead. "Which way to the cafe?"
Phoenix followed after Madonna like an eager puppy, nickering in a friendly manner. Noticing the other pokemon’s reluctance to be cuddled, Nima giggled and waved his rapidash over. “Come on, leave her alone. Ah, the café is this way!” Leading the way, though huddled up, Nima made fairly good time thanks to the fire type now walking beside him. Phoenix all but pranced, enjoying the nice walk (for the weather was always nice when you could regulate your own temperature! Well, unless it was raining - that was more Raijin’s thing!).
The café was quaint but cozy, and thus warm. Nima let out an audible sigh of relief once inside, loosening his scarf and jacket a bit. Phoenix disappeared in a flash of red, and Nima then led the way to a booth table so they could order. “Hehe, I think I’ve started to live on hot chocolate lately!”
Nima led the way, and Ahuda followed dutifully, much warmer than she had been when traveling to the library. Snow was still on the ground, and the air was still cold, but Phoenix's presence took the edge off it.
The cafe that Nima took them to was small, but warm. Ahuda welcomed the rush of warm air and unfurled a bit of her scarf from her neck, nodding in thanks to the rapidash right before he was recalled. As she looked over the menu that was propped up on the table, handing a copy to Madonna so she could read over it, Ahuda glanced over to Nima when she spoke. "That's not exactly a bad thing," she said, grinning, before leaning over the booth to order a peppermint hot chocolate.
The ranger glanced back at Nima when her order was placed. "Why, have you been here a lot of times recently?"
Kicking his feet idly under the table, Nima shook his head. “Not here, specifically. But! I spend a lot of time hanging with people in cafes, and I always seem to order hot chocolate! Even more so now that it’s so cold out. Ugh, I really hate this weather…” It was really hard on his body! He was definitely not made for cold weather!
Waiting for the hot chocolate, Nima perked up at a thought. Grinning, he sat up straighter. “So! Since we’re both with EOS and newly acquainted, and I have no need to bug you for pokedex entries, let’s do this! Is there anything I can do to help you out? Do you want any vaccines or cures? A battle maybe? I’m not exactly sure what would be most useful to you, ehehe.”
The drink had arrived, and Ahuda took a sip out of it; it was good, as good as anything her mother had made her before, and a corner of her mouth curled up into a smile. She laughed a little at Nima's obvious hatred of cold weather, before straightening to mirror Nima.
"Vaccines would be nice, but what I really need at the moment is experience. If you could battle Madonna and I, that would be wonderful. You don't need to, though."
