This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

sonata scooped up the inkay cheerfully and tossed it tentatively into the air a couple of times. 'a-ah!' the blissey trilled, 'your pokéassist still has a long way to go!'
it gently placed the little squid down on iker's lap before waddling over to the watchtower. 'rangers are stationed here at times, so today it's your turn! stay here for a night, and if you successfully defend the place, isaac will teach you the heart sign!' the pink pokémon clasped its hands together and looked at the new ranger hopefully.
'i'll stay with you! if your pokémon get hurt, i'll heal them up and make them brand-new in a bit!'
the inkay makes a peculiar expression. as if she was about to spray ink all over the blissey's face. thankfully, iker catches on to her intention just in time and mouths silently 'please no'. crisis averted.
at least she's fairly obedient. refreshingly so, after what iker has to deal with from jax all the time.
"...okay?" the task seemed simple enough. he looks up at the watch tower. stairs. his old nemesis.
this is one of the reasons why he didn't choose to become a trainer. "...stay here, jax. wisteria. i'll call out for you if i see anything."
he draws the psychic sign - teleport to move to the top of the watchtower. vertigo
night fell, and things started to move within ceres.

all was clear for now. sonata decided to pursue some small talk with the ranger.
'so why did you become a ranger? you look like one of the breeding types, if there was such a type! they are usually nice people just like you! i mean, isaac's nice, but sometimes he doesn't smile and it's a little scary!'
iker finds himself appreciative of the fact that he had the foresight to pack himself a boxed lunch. dinner. whatever. he was shoveling rice into his mouth when the blissey had posed her question.
he makes sure to swallow before answering. he did retain some sense of decorum since making the journey alone.
“...i wanted to see stuff. do stuff.” iker admits that many of the signs were rather useful for travel. it was nice being able to go places on his own terms. “didn’t need a party of six to drag me down...oh, and find my sister.”
for the record, iker didn’t smile much either, except to taunt assholes. he hopes that he doesn’t scare the blissey off. that might make his mission a little harder.
the arbok continued to sleep. it dreamt about something along the lines of chasing down a buneary and making a good dinner out of it, but it kept slipping away because it was slowed down by a string shot. it was altogether a good and bad dream all at once.
watching the arbok sleep is making iker a little tired himself, but he resists the urge.
the inkay pokes his leg, and iker looks down.
"...promise to behave yourself?"
inkay nods innocently. iker allows her to steal one of his anchovies. they weren't his favorite anyway. jax makes no such demands, but iker watch on him anyways. if there is another pokemon approaching, then the electrike will be his eyes.
the arbok seemed like it was about to put up for the night before the watchtower, thanks to a very successful hypnosis. it was slightly bruised and frost was forming on its scales, though. it would survive the night if they kept a watch out for other hostile wild pokémon.
a curious little creature poked its head out of the bushes.
the emolga merely stared at the wheelchair-bound ranger and his partners. its little hands grabbed the edges of a leaf and it tentatively moved forward. its footsteps were hesitant and its eyes focused weakly on iker.
it skittered forward to meet the ranger on all fours, electricity blitzing from its cheeks as it rubbed it against iker's torso. it sat curiously atop his lap, and chattered away about the forest.
"did you know?! there are so many places to go in this forest. the other day i went to the rocks, and saw magical things happen. these place is great! i'm glad i travelled from proserpina!"
