This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

GRAND OPENING !
Welcome to KOHAKU REGION's grand opening! If you're interested in joining, come check out our grand opening giveaway!
luckily for xavier, mary is a temperate psychic pokemon. she's never really held anyone up by the ankles with her powers. not unless you counted scourge. she doesn't count the scourge.
"hmm...i hope so." karimi came from a small town where everyone knew each other's grandmothers and took care of any lost pokemon that they found. there wasn't much to worry about when everyone knew that their pokemon were in good hands whenever they stopped by decima town. that was before the scourge. things are much different now. she imagines that it's the same for nerio. "probably shouldn't risk anything tho. anyone got a spare great ball?"
she doesn't really carry them anymore. buying vaccinated eggs tended to be much more cost-effective.
just their luck, all of the bystanders shook their heads no. some even started walking out of the store, having had enough madness for the day. xavier sighed and started rummaging in his bag for one.
"...i don't have a great ball," he said, "but i do have a pokeball. will that work?" he offers it to the researcher anyway, just in case.
except they're standing on the fifth floor of a shopping complex. for nobody to notice the tauros until just now is...
"well, nothing that we can really do about that, i don't think. he's caused a lot of damage in the store...i doubt that anyone would claim him after this."
karimi looks slightly troubled.
"hey, since this is your pokeball, what do you think about keeping him?"
vo3qxVCK level of the tauros + it has no egg moves lol nette
xavier shrugs and takes the pokeball. it's not like anyone else would take him, anyway, and he doesn't think that the researcher would, either.
which makes him realize that they haven't introduced themselves to each other yet. "excuse me, where are my manners? i'm xavier, from cura. pleasure to meet you." no last names, nothing concrete for anyone to track him down - it's been a standard since he was sixteen, and as he holds out a hand empty of a pokeball he looks at the blue-haired woman with a smile.
karimi would have felt pretty gulity about taking the tauros when she's the proud owner of almost sixty pokemon. the tauros was probably in better hands to a person who could actually take him out every now and then.
"hey, i haven't met anyone from cura this far out!" wait...actually.. "well except for one girl but that was in the dream world so i don't think that counts. i'm karimi! from decima town!" or what's really left of it, anyway. she takes his hand and shakes vigorously. nette
dream world doesn't count, and xavier gets his hand back with a wince. karimi's almost popped his arm out of his socket. it was quite the exuberant handshake.
he returns his poor hand to his pocket again, looking out at the devastation with a sigh. "from decima, huh? that's rough." he'd heard of the town being run over sometime last year, and had to feel sympathetic for the refugees. "where are you off to next, though? after all... this?"
she's heard those sorts of condolences a million times before, and karimi doens't even wince anymore. "it's fine, cos we're gonna get it back eventually."
"after all this?" his next question seems a little more cryptic. "uh...the ice cream parlor, i guess. after i pick out some new clothes" nette
the hope is refreshing, and xavier just shrugs at her reply. at least cura isn't overrun by scourge yet, although with the way that they're preparing for the eventuality he's pretty sure it'll fall quickly.
"i'll leave it to you then, i guess," he says with a smile, and picks up his shopping choice and moves away. she's just a stranger in a mall that just so happened to be with eos; she wouldn't have any time, nor reason, for a civilian.
