this was the place that she'd heard about from nana, it was big and looked promising. rhea grunted, dawdling down the path leading up to the door. it was big. not quite as large as the many buildings in veilstone, but it was much cleaner and more professional-looking, at least on the outside.
no, she wasn't intimidated. she wasn't nervous. she wasn't anything, really. she just wanted to meet sa'di, get the stuff, and go. and as she approached the door, rhea decided to speed up the process to a blistering pace, letting herself in the unlocked door and stepping into the ranger's union. she dropped her bag beside her and stood there, waiting for someone to point her in the right direction. @anymod?

the lucario awaits the new ranger at the front. he nods curtly to her before leading her to sa'di's workroom. the pachirisu worked tirelessly on the ranger's desk, and it's only the footsteps of the lucario that tears sa'di away from her reports. ceres forest had not been kind to the ranger union. at least the rangers didn't ask for that kindness. the rangers were there to provide.
she followed the lucario and slipped her hands in her pockets. she'd heard about the pachirisu and lucario-- they were basically famous in juturna village. not only was sa'di a good ranger, supposedly she had some of the strongest pokemon partners ever. rhea sighed. "they are not mine to just hand away." it was a beginner's misunderstanding, though, and sa'di wasn't about to begrudge her that. "you have a right to preference, but that same courtesy should be extended to the partner pokemon."
it will choose you? rhea thinks, confused. well then let them choose. and she lowers herself to the ground and sits next to the array of pokemon, silent. there's a quiet moment that brings an almost-eerie feeling into the air.
the happiny is the first one to break the silence. it waddles over and murmurs it's name, holding out a tiny hand to shake. "happiny, happineeee."
rhea takes the pokemon's hand and gives it a firm shake, turning her head to sa'di. "done." and she stands back up, ready for her ranger gear. toska

sa'di is the one to nod approvingly at their partnership. the lucario is the one who actually hands the girl her new capture styler, a potion, and a revive.
rhea takes everything and turns away, only turning back to see if the happiny is following. "thanks." is all she says, half out the door and with her back to sa'di and lucario. the happiny follows, it's tiny feet barely able to carry herself quickly enough. toska
