This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

tellumo and the tower of janus had been small victories, but victories nevertheless. karimi figures that she should probably ride on her lucky wave while she still can.
not that it hadn't taken some considerable effort to get to where she is now. karimi had spent hours in the university library and pestering more than a couple of doctors of legends. one of them mentioned stopping by cura village whenever she got stumped by a particularly ambitious paper.
karimi hadn't believed it, but she didn't really believe that mega evolution was a thing either. maybe it's time that she expanded her horizons some.
she stumbles on a root in the brush and falls flat on her face.
"oww..." she picks herself up from the ground and finds herself faced with a wooden door. huh. maybe this is it.
karimi knocks on it firmly. "professor? are you here?"
the mystery man flipped through the pages of the book he was browsing without really reading, and resolved to re-locate. three visitors in a month was about four visitors too many. toska
"uhhh i can hear your voice on the other side of the door, y'know!"
then karimi realizes that she's probably missing some point of irony. oops. "i spent four days in the library for this! i'm not giving up on you, professor!"
karimi pushes against the door as it starts to close. she's no super-strength thalia, but she's also no toothpick.
"dude, i totally would be bothering a nice, accessible professor if they could help me" she grits her teeth as she strains to keep the door open. "but they can't. so i'm asking you, mister. gimme a challenge, and i'll totally get outta your hair."
he shortly made his way to a small clearing, and reached into his coat pocket for something that hadn't been there a moment ago. retrieving a pokeball, he released its occupant and addressed karimi.
