This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

He raised an eyebrow. That was a... Rather curious tidbit.
"And how... Exactly are you responsible for getting them into this mess?" he asked curiously. "If... You want to talk about it, I mean. I don't want to intrude. But it's a rather interesting bit of information" he explained.
"It was my idea to move here," he admitted, looking down a little. "They were planning to move away from Unova anyway, but maybe if I hadn't brought up this suggestion they'd be somewhere safer. Like Verdanturf or something."
He couldn't help but smile slightly, even if his smile looked somewhat pained.
"Of course, I'm here now. And I'm going to make the best of it, both for them and for anyone else I can help along the way."
"Ohhhh" he said, nodding a bit. "Thaaaat.... Explains a lot" he said, rubbing his head. "Bloody hell man, you didn't know. Well, maybe you did, I don't know it depends on how long you've been here I suppose" he said with a shrug. "Who in their right mind brings their family to a region full of zombie pokemon, right?" he said, chuckling.
He smirked a bit.
"Welp... Time to live with what you decided and kill some zombie pokemon right?" he said with a shrug. "Just try not to die"
"You've got that right. Scourge didn't hit until maybe a few months after we arrived.
If only I could see the future, eh?"
He had to admit, there was a certain air of good humor about this conversation that helped him calm down a bit. Maybe things'd al turn out okay, after all.
"Well, now that I'm a Ranger, I know I'm going to get them out of this mess. Or, rather, push this mess right out of Kotaku!"
"So... You're going to take this mess... And push it somewhere else?" he asked, an eyebrow raised, a grin crossing his lips as if he had just told the funniest inside joke in the world. Maybe they HAD created some sort of inside joke and they were both laughing on the inside... Or at least, the writers were. Was there Spongebob in the Pokemon world? Arceus, who the Darkrai knows?
For a while, silence. Then Dan began to snicker, returning Josh's grin as if saying "well played."
"You bet I will," he responded, his grin turning a bit more confident. Jokes aside, this conversation was doing a surprisingly good job at pumping him up for his inevitable fights with the Scourge. "How about you?"
"Scourge robbed us of our family pokemon. We had a Raichu for years, he was a part of the family. When they were doing some business, the scourge attacked and killed Raichu when he tried to defend them" he explained with a frown. "I postponed my education to pursue my old dream so I could get revenge and ensure this never happens to anyone again"
Dan frowned a little in sympathy. "I'm so sorry for your loss . . .
Give those Scourge hell."
Dan honestly couldn't wait until his first encounter with the Scourge. For all the people and Pokemon they've injured, and for their deathgrip putting Kohaku in a state of terror, it was time for some good old fashioned revenge.
He nods. "I will" he said, taking a breath. "They'll pay for what they did. They've caused so much strife for my family ever since. They can't get over it. Raichu was basically the 5th family member" he said solemnly.
He pulled out a Pokeball. "I did get to meet a new friend though" he said, pressing the button. Out popped a Pichu, who sat on Josh's shoulder.
"We can't replace a family member, but this little guy can at least help fill the void" he said with a small smile as the patted the Pichu's head. "The least I can do is protect this little one from the scourge while we fight them. I need to get him vaccinated though"
