This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

yves peeks out from behind the tree again, this time speaking to sableye in an unknown language (scourgetongue). "that's enough, hope. go find yourself a meal."
sableye is hit by everything sableye faints/runs away he was actually already very close and...then i used recover. but bagon and dewott are pretty strong actually, so. yeah.
she emerges from the tree, body still suspended in mid air. "good job." she tosses an old gateau at verte.
"..." verte doesn't know what to say. she recalls both her pokemon, glad that at least two of them hadn't died automatically. the gateau, she catches instinctively, before looking at it oddly. where had that come from.
"thanks... i guess?" she doesn't want to chance poisoning, so she carefully puts it down next to her forgotten cashew nuts. "what were you doing, anyway? and how are you still floating?"
(she doesn't see the connection between the sableye and the woman in front of her, having been too occupied with her pokemon. pity.)
yves adjusts her mask and begins to float away, stopped only by the sound of curiosity in verte's voice. she turns, styler in hand. she stares at the trainer, her fingers twitching by her side. the virus wants her gone-- but she resists.
"you shouldn't thank me." she begins, on her way out. "...just. keep you eyes open." and yves is gone in a flash, as the wind carries her floating body through the infected forest.
