This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

she seems to watch the fight between the poliwrath and a kind of eagerness that accompanies a train wreck; slightly horrified, but completely transfixed. the breloom and poliwrath exchange blows, and delilah gently nudges the ghost pokemon forward.
the litwick may not be on par with the other two (yet), but she can certainly aid the battle effort. siding with the poliwrath, amy joins the fray.
it's two versus one, and delilah can't help but be impressed. the deino -- zweilous now, she reminds herself -- is holding his own against the two fighting pokemon, snapping at them and spewing violet flames to keep the other two at bay.
as much as phenex argues with himself now that he has two heads, she has to admit that he's a formidable fighter. (she quietly hopes he's over his 'biting' phase.)
the initial offense is shaky at best; neither breloom nor poliwrath seem to know exactly how to approach the pokemon that can face two directions at once, but their teamwork improves swiftly. (it is either work together or get their behinds kicked.)
now, delilah wonders, how do i make the three (or four, if two heads count) of them cooperate with each other?
(training: zwielous, breloom, poliwrath. in team: blaziken, roserade, houndoom.)
fire and earth; the camerupt rampages around the arena like a walking volcano (which it essentially is) while the floating lantern pokemon does her best to avoid the falling rocks and heaving terrain. even phenex has difficulty navigating through the smoking wreckage, and she sees the three heads -- two of the dragon, one of the ghost -- come into agreement.
they need to stop the camerupt.
so amy flits higher and spews vile, otherworldly energy at the huge camel while the zwielous attempts to slow the camerupt's advances with dragon fire, and delilah thoughtfully taps her arm.
belial is useful when all she needs to do is point and say 'go,' but in terms of finesse ... well, they can work on it.
(training: zwielous, camerupt, lampent. in team: swablu, scraggy, poliwrath.)
the scraggy is weary the second time around, and rightfully so; he still remembers the bruises and probably broken bones from zara's last interference in his training.
this time, however, it seems as if the woman has no such desire -- zara merely reclines on a beach chair a small ways away, contentedly peeling an orange.
the scraggy sighs in relief, and begins to spar with a nearby pole with the rotating thingies. the sharp sounds of his hands hitting the object rin through the arena. the pokemon stops to rest, leaning on the training object -- when he receives a nasty electric shock.
the three pokemon blaze (quite literally) into action as the training session begins. delilah never truly plans out how to make them stronger -- she isn't a good enough trainer for that -- but she trusts that they know their own shortcomings by now.
even if they didn't, the other pokemon are quick to hack away at the chink in their defenses.
delilah narrowly avoids a searing blast of fire, and the woman quickly escapes the training room to watch from the glass window -- she really does value keeping herself alive and uninjured, thank you very much.
(training: camerupt, chandelure, blaziken. in team: horsea, garchomp, roserade.)
to the woman's surprise, it is sitri who makes the first move in this round -- a flurry of razor-sharp, multicolored leaves shoot into the air and instantly home in on the claydol, who retaliates with a psychic blast; vapula, on the other hand, is simply flying high and avoiding the crossfire.
get in there, vapula. delilah shoots an exasperated glare at the dragonite, who returns the sentiment.
filthy human.
the woman reaches out with her mind, pointing at the dragonite. go get her. (ever since delilah had earned the clear badge, the dragon had become insufferable.) sitri and ose make eye contact, and suddenly vapula is flying for her life.
(training: roserade, dragonite, claydol. in team: meditite, magnemite, happiny.)
even the stoic ose knows when its out of the league of its opponents. the small water horse and the steel pokemon both don't stand a chance against the weakest of the claydol's attacks, so delilah improvises.
use the small rocks, ose.
pebbles lift into the air with seemingly no stimuli, and suddenly they whiz through the air (rather slowly) at the weaker pokemon.
at the end of an hour, delilah can swear the three are actually having fun.
delilah isn't really sure what valefor is doing -- the queen bee seems to be drawing strange shapes in the air while in flight -- so she instead turns to watch the battle between claydol and magneton. electricity charges the air (delilah pats her hair down) and she occasionally comments on a few suggestions to her pokemon.
(don't bother trying to zap ose, for one.)
the fight is interesting, if a bit uneventful, until she hears the buzzing of a thousand tiny bugs. the woman turns to the vespiquen, who has apparently given the order to attack.
