J watched on wordlessly as dust went in for a tackle and chain, an astonish. the mawile had to release icarus from its jaws' grasp to use astonish, and then it decided to use its snapping jaws to startle the carp.

The karp flopped again as it was released from the mawile's jaws.

And then it stopped flopping, instead it lolled about vaguely.

"Okay, that's enough," Neo said, stopping the battle there and recalling the magikarp to his pokeball.

"Your pokemon seem to be growing more confident," she observed.

"thankfully they are," J said, returning his pokémon to their pokéballs. he didn't know how he was going to take more rounds of beating up icarus in the name of leveling up. "thanks, neo." he glanced at her, a faint smile playing on his lips.

his pokémon had indeed grown stronger after a few battles, thanks to neo and her magikarp. next on their agenda would be going after jasper and his badge, as they had previously discussed.

"now that dust can walk in a straight line, to jasper?"
