This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

um okay. words didn't seem to be j's forte then. addi stood awkwardly to the side for a moment, before sitting down beside the piano bench again. she opened her mouth and began to sing, not accompanying words to the melody, but just harmonizing with it.
her trance came back, eyes sliding closed and just revelling in the sound. addi's hair fell forward as she leaned towards her knees, once more curled to her chest. she let words speak for her, but for now she would settle for eight simple letters spread across a staff of notes.
the beast had started to rise again within J, but the music soothed it, forced it back into a state of deep sleep. music was like an antidote, not only to J but also to addi. he kept playing; he didn't want to stop, half because he wasn't sure if she would hug him again if he stopped, half because he didn't want to in the first place.

her voice slowly grew louder and louder, memories of when she could sing to her heart's content flowing back. there were words in her head, conversations of days long gone. her body drew closer in on itself as she continued, vibratos shaking the end of a note.
her singing was solid, each note hit with accuracy and no voice cracks to date. she was beyond content, having found someone to feed the addiction she'd long nurtured.
the music to the piece he was playing started to wind down; as he did, the clearer and louder addi's voice grew -- it was then that J realized that she was very much a singer just as he was very much a musician. he could sing, too; the academy promised him that and delivered on their promise.
the music stopped, and as J glanced up at addi, it felt as if the both of them were less strangers while performing. but as soon as the music disappeared, it was back to their previous states, at least for him; the hug disorienting but the performance addicting.
J had said nothing throughout, until a restaurant employee came to shoo the two of them out of the establishment (after paying J, of course).

addi's voice softened, and died down to nothing as it did with the music. she stayed seated for a while, until someone came by to kick them out. addi frowned, standing and exiting the restaurant.
"you play the piano really well. it was lovely." she said, smiling. this time addi was smart enough to avoid the hug, before glancing at the clock inside the restaurant. "ah, i have to get going now. um, will you play here again sometime?"
J nodded, saying nothing. it was an agreement to both statements, all three of them even. he offered her a half-smile, and walked past her, hands in his pockets.
and when he was gone, all that was left, would be the memories.
