truth be told, J had half a mind to leave the dead donphan here. the live one was already captured, which meant that it was out of commission until thalia let it out of its pokéball. the dead one was, well, dead.

That corpse had to be like three hundred, four hundred pounds at the least. And even if it was dead--it was still a scourge pokemon. The idea of actually having to put her hands on it and haul it back to Nerio made Thalia's palms clammy.

"The other scourge will take care of it if we leave it here," she finally decided. Eat the dead donphan, more like, but whatever. "Thanks for helping me. That would have been a lot worse without you."

J reached over to the donphan, took out a small knife and sliced off some leather. he kept it in a metal case. that was a sample, whatever it was useful for. he gave thalia another piece if she wanted it, before tossing away the blade. he no longer had use for it.

"not a problem," J said, remembering the encounter in the pokémon center with a thalia healing half her wounded team. apparently teaming up was the way to go in the event scourge struck -- or they decided to hunt for some, anyway. "couldn't have done it alone, either."
