This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

cherubi was anxious the moment isaac suggested he pick her up. why did he want to do that? what if he crushed her little body in his arms? that wouldn't be good at all. uh oh, uh oh! the grass type thought it over as the ranger bent down to her level. if they movefaster, she might find home faster. and that meant safety. "o-okay..." cherubi reluctantly agreed, creeping into isaac's arms.
she wouldn't like to admit it, but isaac's hold was comfy and nice. he was a nice human. not anything like the bad trainers who came marching through the forest. they yelled and were mean to the pokemon sometimes, but this boy was the nicest one she'd ever seen. leaning her head on his chest, the pokemon let out a yawn.
isaac walked along, glancing around the shrubs and trees for any sign of a pokémon next. or in this case, a cherubi nest. he wasn't sure where they lived; if they lived on trees, he couldn't quite climb all of them to look. he couldn't ask pansear either, as the monkey had caused quite a ruckus previously. if the baby cherubi didn't like it, the parents certainly wouldn't either.
isaac turned to look at the young creature, and found that it was already yawning. he supposed it couldn't be helped, though, and walked on in silence. he'd just have to search for it on his own. he mouthed to clavier to stay close to him, while sending the pansear off to search for some sort of sign that cherubi had been around. the monkey nodded, and leapt off amongst the branches.
as the grass type yawns a tiny "goodnight" she is glad to have arms wrapped around her tight she gives a small smile, realizes the meeting's worthwhile and amazes at the trainers dedication and servile.
the ranger walked about in a forest, and when he circled back to the fallen trunk, he found several small, similar footprints to the cherubi's. he wondered if it belonged to its friends, and decided to call out.
the two cherubi were worried sick for their friend. they had been looking for her all day. she must have had a pretty good hiding spot to last this long in hide and seek, but recently they had realized that maybe they should stop thinking about hide and seek, and start thinking about what had really happened to their friend. as they heard the voice, the two grass types crept out from behind a tree.
"yes, we have." one said. "we were playing hide and seek, and-a-and now she's gooooone!" the second choked up and began to weep.
the cherubi sleeping in isaac's arm woke up to the noise and grinned, hopping down from her place. "you guys didn't forget about me!" and she ran to them, giving each a little hug. they hadn't forgot about her! the grass type was relieved. they were probably just impressed that she was so good a hide and seek! and cherubi was. isaac had given her the best nap/hiding place possible.
she turned to the boy and waddled to his feet, looking up at his face. "thank you, human!" she hugged his leg. he would visit, right? cherubi liked this human. he was nice, and maybe next time they could play a game or something. cherubi might even introduce isaac to some of her other friends. rattata and caterpie were really nice! "will you come and visit?" she asked, clinging on to the sentence. hopefully he would. there were lots of other pokemon in the forest for him to meet.
isaac glanced down at the grass-type wrapping its little feet around his own leg, and smiled. "you're welcome, glad you've found your friends," said the ranger as he gave the other pokémon a nod. "i will come visit again, definitely!"
isaac turned away, waving at the trio of cherubi. "see you later!" he said brightly, and disappeared into the bushes, where he was rejoined by clavier and the pansear.
"took a while," sighed the boy as clavier patted the back of his leg gingerly.
