This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

J thought that was a far more noble cause than him repaying a debt.
"great." he remembered the conversation with thalia about heroes and found it highly applicable to mordecai. "we could always use someone really devoted to this."
because he wasn't. because he didn't want to get attached. because he didn't want an ending to it.
J felt that his discipline had something more to do with keeping himself less of a hypocrite than dedicated person to end the scourge, but he didn't bother correcting mordecai.
now, what was what about a cappuccino?
"... no," J replied, unsure if it was an invitation for him to get one, or if it was just an idle comment.
"Why don't you join me for one then?" Mordecai proposed. "Although, I recall seeing a coffee shop downstairs. Perhaps the coffee would be fresher there."
And on top of that, there were plenty of fresh pastries waiting to be eaten too. Mordecai had a soft spot for cookies.
"I'm sure there would be something of your liking."
J figured that he would still make a beeline for hot chocolate. he wasn't too fond of coffee; every time he attempted to drink a mouthful, he would leave the entire mug to cool while lounging about in a café.
"first shop at the corner? i remember that," J nodded. "your recommendation?"
Mordecai nodded. "Yes, that's the one." He rubbed at the back of his neck with a free hand, frowning as he tried to recall the name of the place. "Coffee King? Queen? Prince? One of those, anyways."
He turned from the man and made his way towards the elevator.
