This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

a cold wind breezed through the forest early in the morning. ceres forest was as peaceful as it usually was, except for the loud growling coming from thorpe's stomach as it walked alongside J. he was pretty sure that some exercise before breakfast (not to mention the fresh air) would do the both of them some good.
thorpe dragged its feet along. the riolu really wasn't thrilled to be out and about before it had anything. it tried looking around for some berries, but to no avail.
The mighty bidoof spotted an intruder on his front lawn.
The mighty bidoof charged at the riolu by tumbling out of a tree and landing in an ungraceful heap in front of pokemon and trainer. It growled most menacingly.
the mighty bidoof was spotted by the riolu, but the canine paid its growl no heed. it was too hungry to even think about doing anything else. thorpe decided to knock the bidoof out with a quick attack.
sensing that thorpe wasn't going to be able to handle the bidoof on its own, J released skew the pawniard, and made it stay by his side just in case the bidoof was about to eat thorpe alive.
The quick attack pummeled the bidoof in the side. Kids these days! Got no manners! And look at the company that riolu keeps. Some dark type--clearly the wrong crowd.
With what the bidoof fancied sounded like a violent roar (it was a strange chirruping noise instead), he rushed forward in a tackle on the riolu.
the bidoof was surprisingly noisy for a bidoof. also pretty damn quick. the riolu took the tackle and found itself sprawled on the ground. wow, that geezer sure packed a punch.
... that geezer was also a bidoof, thorpe reminded itself as it quickly used (agility) and (quick attack).
skew nervously stomped around. how could someone not be able to defeat a stupid-looking bidoof.
It was a quick bugger! The quick attack battered him in the beer gut, and the bidoof rolled up into a defense curl to protect its tummy.
Grumbling about his old joints, the bidoof waddled back into a standing position, lowered his head and magnificent front teeth for another tackle at the riolu.
( It goes down next round. It shouldn't, but jesus I am not playing this bidoof for any longer. )
the riolu stared at the incoming tackle before deciding to avoid it. later on, it used two (quick attacks) to spare it the misery of having to deal with more rounds of fighting against a riolu.
J watched as thorpe beat the geezer down and briefly wondered if he should capture it. it wasn't everyday an old pokémon appeared to clean its lawn -- would neo appreciate the gesture? (maybe not.)
The bidoof gave one last warbling warcry before collapsing onto his front lawn in mimicry of cardiac arrest. It was just unconscious. Not young anymore, you know, hard to keep up with the kids when it came to exchanging tackles.
It laid there for a while before its local neighborhood friendly gardener appeared. A poliwag approached, using water sport on dry patches of dirt and bubble to water flowers and shrubbery.
+2 levels to riolu (Neo would appreciate the gesture) A wild poliwag appeared!
LV12 - water sport, bubble, hypnosis, water gun, mist
The poliwag splashed water sport all about. First good watering since the end of winter, after all, some of this grass really needed the help.
hi, the poliwag replied. It water gunned the roots of an old tree, a bit more delicately than you'd normally see a water gun used. you got a lawn? poliwagger watering services, we'll come by once a week to keep your home green. 50% discount first month!
uh, what? this poliwag ran a watering service? thorpe turned around and glanced at J, who quickly pocketed the pokéball containing the bidoof. um, no, but why do you have to water the lawn? thorpe asked, unable to wrap its head around the poliwag's job. i don't know, we're kind of all over the place, but maybe we can help you find some customers?
what, it's friday isn't it? there's a bidoof that lives here, gets awfully tetchy if we're not right on time with the watering, but the customer's always right! huh, I wonder where he is...
excitedly, because business had been stagnant for the poliwagger family lately, it asked, you know people with lawns that need watering?
i think it's wednesday, thorpe said, but it too wasn't sure what day it was. it glanced back at J, but the trainer had glanced aside. um, you might have come on the wrong day.
yes, i might! there's a family of cherubi that needs rain to grow, just now my trainer and i saw them looking for water. maybe you can give them a shower!
Wednesday? You're sure? Huh... no wonder that old fart isn't about then.
The mention of cherubi made the poliwag bounce in excitement. Where, where? I've got just the thing for a family that needs rain! Poliwagger Watering Services can change their lives for the better!
y-yea. the riolu nodded its head, hoping the poliwag wouldn't bust its lie. J couldn't, as he had in his pocket the bidoof. yes i'm sure you can! thorpe exclaimed, wagging its tail. they're up the road, down the road, then around the road.
thorpe paused.
um, straight ahead. then you go downhill a bit. then you take a turn as the road guides you.
