| Mordecai asked the first question that popped into his head. Regina clearly meant business, but all he managed was, "Duco, do you remember your original owner?" The answer should have been simple. The breeder was certain that the Porygon had gotten somewhat acquainted with Delilah prior to the trainer handing the glitched Porygon off to him. The two would have needed to do some bonding for her to realize that the Porygon was in need of some extra attention.
The Porygon tilted its virtual head before buzzing about. It was all very strange. Mordecai was certain that the digital Pokémon was fast asleep, yet here he was interacting with its central data. He'd never understand computers and whatsits; leave those machines to people like Regina and Neo. The Pokémon's network suddenly undulated, and Mordecai saw it rock, like a disturbed plateau of gelatin. Sequences of 0s and 1s flew past the visor in a language that Mordecai assumed spelled out Delilah's name.
"Will that work, Regina?" he asked the researcher. |

Maps spilled onto her screen resembling computer chip layouts. Blue and pink lines sometimes made organic loops and fizzled away while others disappeared and reappeared across the map. What could be expected of a computer built from life? It was a mess, but her program pieced it together, and soon, the tracking program kicked in. A bright red spot was highlighted on the screen, and the hacker's fingers got busy. She typed in commands for her own bugs to sniff out the virus, but she wasn't quite there yet. The virus was scrambling an entry gate.
"Ask it something else, Mordecai. Something... something that would make it recall its self-identity before its behavior problem. I've almost gotten it." ZULF ?

| Mordecai nodded, wracking his brains for another question. Truth be told, he didn't really know too much about the Porygon's initial identity prior to the moment Delilah handed its Pokéball to him. He did not even know where the creature had come from, nor whether it had exchanged hands with another person before his sister had obtained it. The virus could have been implanted purposely, unless computer viruses and glitches occurred naturally in the wild (somehow, he highly doubted this).
"Hey, Duco," Mordecai said softly. The Porygon's data spun in a circle, and if it had a head, it would have tilted it curiously at the breeder. "Delilah never told me where you lived. The city? Did you belong to anyone previously? Did you... have a different owner?" He wondered if he was asking the Pokémon too many questions at once. On the other hand, the Porygon's data didn't seem to be acting up yet. Fortunately (or unfortunately), the Porygon's geometric shape of data began to quiver, as if the creature were being overloaded as it searched in its memory drives for anything prior to being captured by Delilah. There had been the station, yes, what was it called again? Moonlight Station? Moon Station? Something along those lines. But what puzzled the Porygon the most was that, somehow, it got the sense that this location wasn't even real. |
