This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

It wasn't really her place to make sure J ate solid foods. She wasn't his mother.
"Hunting is decent recreation," Neo said, because that was true, and because she hoped he'd eat what he cooked himself. "And a fresh meal every now and then would be nice. ...Just don't use bitter powder for a secret ingredient."
She didn't have anything to say to that, and instead Neo wondered where exactly she was supposed to hunt in Decima. Most of the pokemon remaining were either poisonous or inedible.
She reorganized her trinkets in silence, now sorting them between items she'd want to keep (the cleffa and the pieces of jewelry) and the items she couldn't have weighing her down, which was just about everything else. She was of two minds on the lucky rock. On one hand, it was a damned rock. On the other, maybe it was lucky.
After a while, she asked, "So what's next? Hespera? Back to Bacchus?"
"maybe," J said quietly, and picked up the rock to look at it. he tossed it in his hands, weighing it. it might have had some particular property to it, but neo hadn't said anything; he replaced it where it was and glanced up at the walls and dull ceiling.
"Might be nice to go back. Familiar territory." But not too familiar; Decima was just unpleasantly familiar and fallen. "You mentioned boxing the scourge in at Pax once. Nerio seems more secure now. Bacchus is the next step."
"You could call her. She's usually very quick about answering," Neo suggested.
"Heading over to Hespera maybe tomorrow, want to see if some people I knew managed to run there. After that, it's back to Pax or Bacchus or maybe even Nerio. Not sure."
She got up. "Hey, watch my stuff? Or don't. It's just junk--but watch my tent. I'm going to find someplace more private to make nice with the garbodor. Hopefully no one will notice the stink."
With that, Neo walked away, searching for some far off niche where she could go about the unenviable task of dismembering a rotting garbodor.
Way to watch her stuff, J. Neo didn't particularly mind. She might've if her stuff weren't there anymore, but it was untouched.
She considered dragging J into the tent, but she figured she'd wake him. She settled for a fair compromise: Neo got him a pillow. Then she went into her tent and curled up in her sleeping bag for a nap herself.
She left Tiresias to keep watch over both of them. People tended not to mess with a hydreigon.
