This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Tiffany wanted to cross her fingers. Please don’t know lots of signs, please don’t know lots of signs. And true to his word, Zac didn’t know that many; he had only learnt five signs. Five seemed like an okay number. She wasn’t miles behind – only just under one.
“Oh I know what you mean.” Tiffany nodded understandingly. She would almost bet that the sign she knew was one of the least practical of them all. “But they’re bound to be better in battle.” Maybe. She didn’t have any experience to draw on. Tiffany gave a small shrug. “At least you’re a quarter of the way to twenty. That’s great.”
"a quarter to twenty ..." isaac mumbled, counting on his fingers. he snapped them, and brightened in an instant. "hey, you're right! i'm a quarter of the way there!" he grinned.
the ranger turned to tiffany, tilting his head slightly. "hey, you know, since we're both starting out, how about we team up and see what we can do around these places?" said isaac, figuring that there was strength in numbers, and they might as well work together and progress together. it was infinitely better than struggling alone.
She didn’t think twice. “That’s a great idea!” Tiffany already knew what her bible would say: not only was four a manageable number, but it was close to the ideal number of three. Not that it really mattered at the moment – they weren’t in zombieland yet. Even so, Tiffany knew that she’d be better off with help rather than without it. “You really wouldn’t mind? And Clavier doesn’t either?”
Think carefully before answering! Mo quickly added. She’s a city girl. City girls are useless travellers. She doesn't even know how to–
clavier shrugged. rangers banding together to fight the scourge wasn't discouraged; in fact, it was encouraged by many veterans in the field.
well, you can always learn. clavier glanced at the rotom, before the pansear emerged again.
if the rangers are learning signs, they might as well learn how to survive in the wild. the pansear did a cartwheel, before springing back up into the branches as isaac turned to look at it.
"i think we've got an agreement here, right guys?" he grinned. "i'm not very good at travelling in the wild either, but if we work together, we should be fine. i think!"
You’d think so, but… Mo had begun to reply, but trailed off when the Pansear had re-emerged. He made a little huff sound and looked at anywhere but the fire monkey. Tiffany felt that it had been good timing – she didn’t think she wanted to know what was going to come after the ‘but’.
“It’s settled then! First stop the Pokemon Centre, next stop the world.” She knew that what she said had sounded cheesy, but she didn’t really care at the moment. All of the cares were shoved away under the bed where they could stay until they were actually needed.
"first stop the pokémon center, next stop the world, huh?" isaac said, thinking to himself. "that sounds really catchy, tiff!" he laughed, as they reached the end of the forest. before them, proserpina sprawled. the pokémon center's red roof was easily identifiable from a distance, and the ranger nodded at his friend.
