This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

the soup kitchen was abuzz with activity. trainers who had escaped lake pax and decima usually made a beeline for civilization, and as J entered the area, he almost wanted to double back and get another packet of bitter powder to mix with his hot chocolate.
he turned, before an assistant approached him with a smile and hot bowl of stew.
and so, J stood in a corner of the gym, watching a battle unfold while wondering if he ought to eat or to pass it on to someone else who needed it more.
J shrugged. he didn't know how to explain it. "i guess," he said, glancing at the stew. maybe he should have eaten it, then. he turned away to look at the other refugees, wondering how to change the topic.
Apparently they weren't going to talk about J's eating habits. That was fine at the moment; Neo was content to eat her fill of the stew. On second thought, it was pretty bland although hearty and filling. It was better than instant ramen either way.
"You seen the museum yet? Bunch of fossils there."
J brightened up visibly, enjoying the turn the conversation had taken. "i was there earlier," he said, "exchanged an old amber for an aerodactyl." he still had the pokéball on him, but to release a prehistoric creature in the midst of many people was a foolish move.
"Congrats. Looks like that collection's really shaping up. You going to battle with the aerodactyl? They're supposed to be pretty impressive combatants."
J mused. fighting with an aerodactyl would be interesting, as it had many elemental moves at its disposal. its only problem? it wasn't half as resistant as his steel-plated team.
"thanks," J said, smiling faintly, "maybe. it's not very sturdy, though."
"Not study... compared to your aggron? That's most pokemon, you know. Besides, you could always just put it in plate armor. Or paint it silver to fit in with the others."
Honestly, J's team could do with some pokemon that weren't decked out in metal, if you asked her. She was starting to think he had a fetish.
She shook her head. Trainers and their pokemon. They all had so many, yet their general strategy was always to smash whatever was in their way. She'd never understood why they needed that many pokemon for such a singular purpose.
J paused. neo was right, as always. he shouldn't have doubted his silverberg.
gym battles were always horrible for him to fight through because of a highly-disadvantageous typing, but perhaps the aerodactyl could turn the tides around for him.
and stealth rock/roar combo wasn't going to work every time.
"you're right," J said, solemn. his team was relatively useless outside beating shit up physically.
There was a time and place for beating shit up physically. As far as Neo knew, J had a remarkable track record against the scourge.
"Besides, if that agent has a scourge camerupt, maybe you should train up some pokemon that can stand up to her." Because Neo was pretty sure that camerupt could one-shot the majority of J's steel team--although to be fair, the camerupt could one-shot most pokemon, it seemed. At least the camerupt didn't know growl. ...Or did it.
"i'm considering it, but i haven't challenged angelo," said the trainer. aerial travelling, battles included, wasn't an issue for him. he not only had a skarmory, but also a metagross and charizard. he figured he had that covered, but not the camerupt. sad, but true.
J figured if he could get dust to learn surf, he might stand a chance, provided the camerupt didn't kill it off. he also had an empoleon, but he would be better off avoiding the camerupt and its agent entirely.
"i have an empoleon. you have icarus. we still can't win."
