This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

he was thankful for what little advantage he had. because fighting a mega pokémon barehanded, while good for bragging rights, was horrible for injuries.
Long ago, before the mawile had been born, much less dwelt here, a storied researcher had traveled with his faithful companion, a Raikou clone. His bones had laid here for untold centuries, but the raikou slept fitfully, and at times violence stirred it to awakening.
A thunderous roar echoed through the cave, and as dirt rained from the ceiling, the ghostly image of a Raikou burst from the wall and used thunder on the mawile.
The mawile fell to her knees and then collapsed entirely, out cold. A mawilite fell from between her teeth and rolled onto the ground at J's feet.
The raikou snarled and raised his head to look at J. But even as he did so, his image faded and passed.

J wasn't sure what he had just summoned, but it had taken care of the mega mawile easily enough. he picked up the mawilite, and looked up once he was done -- his eyes met with the raikou's. he didn't flinch from the snarl, but as it disappeared in a whirl of static and crackling electricity, J figured that it had actually saved him from being beaten up by a mawile.
