This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

he's a little confused. "i'm sorry, do you think i'm too young or something?" he crinkles his nose a bit. "i'm eighteen. i was almost seventeen when my mom and sister died." he looks at her, for once ignoring the ice cream. "the scourge killed them. ate them."
"i have the right to help and fix this. it affected me directly. i'm trying to make sure that there's no other kids out there that have to lose their mom at 16. no more kids who watch their 4 year old sister get eaten alive." he's tense, squeezing his fists so hard that they turn white. but when he looks into her eyes, he just--

"You're still young," Thalia said slowly. "Just because terrible things have happened to you, that doesn't negate it. It doesn't make it your responsibility to oppose them."
She still looked desperately unhappy with the situation, but made a concession: "I understand though. The scourge killed my family as well."
"I'm sorry," Thalia said. The ice cream was a soggy inedible mess in her hand. She tossed it to blastoise, and he swallowed the cone in one bite. She stared at her sticky, strawberry-syrup covered palm.
"I guess I should say something about how you'll rebuild, and find people you love and surround yourself with a family of sorts again, but it just sounds trite."
"it'd be a lie too." tiebout studies the pavement. what are you doing? he frowns. who are you? a sigh.
and then he smiles; lifts his head. puts on his bravest smile. eats a spoon of ice cream. "so you're in eos too, huh? have you, fought, uh," he blinks, "any of the uh, scourge?" 2tsunz

"Yeah," she said. "I'm coming up on my one year anniversary of being EOS, actually. When spring rolls around. He may not look like it but this guy--" she gestured at blastoise, "--has put down more than his fair share of scourge."
oh my god. he grabs her hand, shakes it. "you're a senior member!" tiebout says, eyes wide. "c-congratulations, ma'am." he stutters.
"i applaud your efforts. thh-. thank you." he says awkwardly, his cheeks turning red. he obviously should have treated her better right from the beginning...oh well."it's an honor to be talking to you." 2tsunz
