The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

She felt bad about distracting the guardian of the Amberglade, almost as bad as she had about challenging Donovan. But there were seals that needed gathering and work to be done.
she crouches by the water, the tips of her hair barely touching the surface. the amberwell is swelling with the tears of forgotten pokemon; flooding with the future that's held deep within the pond. this is her lifeline. the amberwell waters run through her blood and she has sworn time and time again to protect this place. time and time again, she has.
thalia's voice startles her- olivia shakes violently and turns herself around, pushing green locks out of her face. "greetings," she says, stepping towards thalia. "welcome to the amberwell." olivia raises her arms. "this is my home- it has been for years now. i protect it fiercely, and with the help of the rangers and trainers, ceres remains free, far from the virus's grasp." she looks at thalia.
"o-oh?" olivia stammers, turning her back to thalia. "one moment, i have to-" she says, hustling off into the distance. she never finishes.
it's a full five minutes before she returns, a whole posse of bug type pokemon crawling along behind her. along with countless caterpies, weedles, and wurmples, there are six strong-looking pokemon that stand behind her. "well, here are my pokemon. you will fight three of them." olivia gestures to the vaccinated pokemon beside her.
"which one would you like to fight first?" she raises her eyebrows and steps aside, giving thalia a full view of the team. leading them is a bright green scizor, snapping his claws and eyeing thalia. beside the scizor is a parasect, gazing off vacantly while it's mushroom gives off a harsh hum. if you look carefully there is a galvantula peeking out from behind a majestic volcarona. heracross gives thalia a harsh stare while vivillion flies at olivia's shoulder.
"i understand others have a, erm, different way of battling." olivia smiles. "i always like to give the advantage to my opponent in the beginning. after all, it's not often that i meet someone with as much experience as i have." if anyone else had said it, you might consider it self-absorbed. but olivia has a way of making it sound humble yet confident at the same time.
"ah, scizor." she sighs. "i suspect you believe you can cook him up with a flamethrower or two," her eyes flutter to her scizor, and then to thalia. "everyone does. but they've all failed." olivia says harshly, staring at thalia.
