This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.

The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

thalia had planned only to be in prosperina long enough to pick up her check and bounce out, but apparently the EOS bureaucracy disagreed with her. it was all well and good to constantly be on the front lines--even better to be staying alive and winning up there, so commends for that all around, and if the scourge didn't get them all in the end she might qualify for a medal, but she apparently had responsibilities to the new recruits as well.
which was how thalia had ended up in a rather hastily erected battle arena with her larvitar and her eevee toddling around in front of her, waiting for her opponent to show up.
It seems as if Eos don't like its raw recruits to be out in the field without any training - she has gotten summons to a battle on the docks, and she and her pokemon have had to run the way here in order to make it on time. As it is, they are only slightly out of breath and the axew who is her partner in Proserpina jumps down from her shoulder where he'd been riding while Madonna simply slows to a stop.
Ahuda gives a nod to the trainer on the other side of the arena with her two pokemon, looking curiously at the eevee and larvitar at her feet. "You'll be training with me, then?" she asks, settling to stand more comfortably on her feet. She cracks her neck, a simple twist to the right before straightening it, and nods to her Mienfoo and axew. "I'll be working with these two guys, and I'm guessing you're using the two you have out?"
"Sounds good to me," Thalia agreed. Although it wasn't like she had many other options to battle with. She stretched her arms behind her back. "Might as well get down to it."

Thalia watched her pokemon spring into action on their own, and then looked at the other girl.
"I'm Thalia," she said, "Thalia de Luca. Nice to meet you. Just joined up?"
Thalia grimaced. "I've got one foot in the grave by EOS standards, yeah. What made you join? They've been yelling at us about how recruitment rates are dropping. Apparently we aren't inspiring enough."

Ahuda raises an eyebrow. "Really? I've seen plenty of other recruits around. I joined because the rangers helped clear out Ceres in the earlier days, and it seemed like a good option. You?"
