This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

I'm going to compile all of Thalia's shounen moments from Ismael threads and send them to tanz.
"You're not burdening me," Thalia felt obligated to say before continuing. "But the point isn't what I think you should do. That can come later, if at all. What do you want to do, Ismael? Where do you want to go? If you could be anywhere, no restrictions, where would you pick?"
Thalia looked very much like a woman determined to make whatever he said become reality.
Thalia felt a surprising amount of understanding for that comment, although it was something she would have never voiced herself. She had long such given up on such dreams. They were childish. For her, at least. For other people--that was different.
"Then we just have to find you somewhere safe," she said. "Do you want to stay in Kohaku?"
ismael didn't know if he still wanted to stay in kohaku. he didn't know where he came from, only that it definitely wasn't any of the cities in the region that he had been to.
"i ... yes," he said. the safest place to hide was where the enemies were, wasn't it? the most dangerous place is the place where the enemies wouldn't find you, or something along those lines. "do you know of any places? or maybe you have a map?"
She didn't have a map, but she did have a C-Gear. Thalia pulled it out and opened her GPS.
"Cura and Sol are both relatively sheltered havens," she said. "Sol is warmer though. Nice and sunny on the beach, and it's almost spring. You might like it."
"sol it is, then," ismael said, glancing over the tiny c-gear screen. "the beach, the sea, and spring is coming. you make it sound poetically beautiful."
Thalia thought about the last time she had been to Sol. She guessed it had been beautiful? In between Atlanta kicking her off her ship and all. Poetically beautiful. Huh.
"Thanks," she said. "Well I guess we can set you up in a beach house. Hanging out drinking wine all day. Maybe I should move there too."
he was very much unaware of the high rolling high risk high returns life of a trainer. hisham hadn't been like that even though he was a trainer. he glanced at charizard, and now saw the saurian in a new light
"Being an EOS trainer is hard. Not many people are good at it. High demand, low supply means that I get boatloads of funding shoved at me. I've got no family, nothing to spend it on, so most of it sits in a bank account. It's the end of the world and I'm living in style. Doesn't seem right."
The C-Gear beeped and announced the food would be delivered in half an hour.
