The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

ignatius took down the eevee's entry. he had half a mind to invest in one because of its evolutionary properties, but he could probably get a book on them and get the same results, or even ask a breeder.
oh -- eevee was probably tastier than jolteon minus the challenge in preparing it. a commodity meal instead of a delicacy.

ignatius glanced over the entries he had scanned in the pokédex, before tapping the tab that indicated completely new entries. it wasn't a complete loss. there had been new entries, but there were also ones he had already seen before. well, more data never hurt a researcher, he supposed.
"they were. thank you, luke," said ignatius as he snapped his pokédex shut. "perhaps you could show me them when they've evolved -- i'd like their data."

"sure!" luke smiled and cradled eevee in his arms, detangling the pokemon from his shoulder. "here, this is my number. i'll give you a call when they evolve?" he left his number, before walking away with a wave. "bye ignatius!"

luke stood around the forest, sitting down with garrett by his side again. the scenery had mildly changed, but not particularly. there was still goop stuck on the trees, and it was somewhat disgusting in ryn's eyes. she hmph'd at the sludge, while garrett poked fun by sweeping the kirlia's feet out from under her.
a researcher's job was rarely a one-off thing. it involved lots of researching, and that was where the name came from. remembering the state of the amber glade the last time he dropped by, ignatius decided to make a detour to the clearing on his way to the caverns and beyond.
he was rewarded by the sight of a face he had met in the very same place. he supposed that this trip wasn't going to be a fruitless one. even if the amberwell wasn't ready to give him any answers, he would at least obtain a few entries along the way.
mirroring their first encounter, ignatius stood by the edges of the red bark trees and glanced over to where luke was. "fancy seeing you here again. deja vu, perhaps?" he commented, as if talking about the weather.

ignatius was certainly on time. "hey, ignatius! some of my pokemon evolved recently, and ryn reminded me to give you a call." the kirlia showed herself. 'kirr.' she approached ignatius, doing a little bit of a curtsy.
"she talks now. i suppose she was just quiet as a ralts."
yes, ralts could be a bit shy. kirlia and gardevoir were growing into their powers though, so they acted a bit happier -- or at least that was what ignatius was used to seeing. he waved at ryn before extending his pokédex at her. the device beeped.
"what do you the both of you discuss?" as a researcher, ignatius owed it to himself to ask.

my, what a nice smile that whiscash had. it certainly was quite the creature. ignatius ran a hand down its slimy back and noted its texture. quite catfishlike. he didn't know if he was expecting otherwise.
the pokédex beeped, indicating that it was done collecting data.
ignatius glanced at the kirlia. that description reminded him of someone else, except that someone else didn't volunteer her thoughts unless prompted.

ignatius had sufficient knowledge to understand what pokémon spoke. it came from being a researcher, really -- one day he'd woken up and understood what everything had to say to him. boy, was it a nuisance in the beginning.
"hello there," he said to the kirlia, while the pokédex beeped at the pignite.
the jolteon looked mildly horrified. luke was mildly confused as to why.
