This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

ikram thought this was the end of the battle. she turned to face wukong -- "that was tough," she said, and the monkey agreed -- and then when she turned to the fainted spoink, she noticed that it had started to grey and shrivel.
there was a sort of glint behind its eyes that told ikram that what was about to rise wasn't anything good.
she took a step back. so did her chimchar.
"spoink?" she called, but there was no response from the creature, no ready stance and heroic poise ready to take on scourge.
betrayal so often came from within. but that wasn't fair to the spoink--the spoink hadn't wanted this. it hadn't wanted to die, and it hadn't wanted to become scourge either. and yet here it was, a ghastly mockery of its former self, rising up against its former master-friend. perhaps it was the spoink who had been the betrayed, not the betrayer.
either way, it was going to attack now. he tested the limits of his new strength, unsure of what exactly he could do.

maybe it hadn't wanted this, but it was what happened to the weak and unvaccinated in this world -- they were turned into scourge and they quite possibly died. the strong lived, though.
ikram turned away from the spoink as it rose, dark and ugly. wukong's hackles rose, and it hissed and spat.
'a shadow!' cried the chimchar, 'a shadow!'
"kill it," ikram ordered.

ikram held her styler in hand. her grasp was tight, but it shook, and ikram didn't like that bit about herself.
ikram drew the arceus sign, folding the dark sign into it. arceus + dark sign manifested as dark-typed judgment on spoink
2tsunz (( apparently you can modify the type of judgment by doing this, and it's considered one sign ))
he fired off the two moves that had always been his limit in the past, and found to his immense delight that he felt he could go further! the virus had re-built him, after all. he was a new spoink entirely. he grinned and sprang forward.

ikram had no idea what was happening to the spoink, but it was something that she didn't wish to deal with. she raised her styler, and drew a sign. "what's wrong with you," she hissed at the spoink, who was repeatedly firing off attacks -- as if some sort of new potential had unlocked within itself.

as quickly as the tides had shifted for the spoink, they rolled out again, leaving him stranded on the shore. such was life--or the afterlife, in his case.
spoink was pacified spoink smiled dopily at ikram.
ikram stared in partial awe at the spoink. whatever this pacification sign was, it worked wonders on scourge pokémon. she glanced at wukong, hoping it'd do something other than punch itself in the face.

ikram drew her heart sign. heart sign manifested as metronome, which turned into ... mystical fire.
what the fuck is mystical fire. apparently it debuffs sp atk. okay.
the spoink would honestly have been pretty adorable in ikram's books, had it not been squealing in an inhuman language that sounded coarse and foul. she raised her styler.

supercharged with the might of a 120pow move, ikram went on a draconic rampage to destroy the spoink.
wukong was hit by the psybeam, but couldn't really do much in the face of a rampaging ikram. it too, was really surprised by the sudden turn of events.
'ikram?' weakly, wukong tried to call out to her, but figured that if it caught her attention, it'd end up getting hulk smashed. it fell silent.
on the ranger's end, ikram really couldn't do much except keep up the outrage. spurred on by power funnelled into her veins by her styler, she continued her outrage upon the spoink.
wukong used an ember on spoink. just in case. one never knew.
the spoink watched two doorways to his death open. he knew which one he preferred. with a final sproing, he hurled himself at the chimchar's ember, and expired. his tail melted into a heap of slag.
whether or not ikram's rampage stopped was no longer his concern. he was quite thankful.
wukong was almost glad to see that the spoink had simply melted into goo instead of getting splattered across the forest path. the chimchar muttered a silent word of prayer for the dead spoink, and glanced up at its partner.
ikram was still trapped in her third round of outrage. without a scourge target, she wheeled upon wukong and promptly launched an onslaught of attacks upon it.
wukong dodged the attack. he was a very lucky monkey.
ikram's outrage stopped. ikram is confused.
dazed, confused and tired, ikram fell to her knees.
"what happened," she murmured, cradling her head in her hands. the world spun for her, but she was glad that it was all over.
