name Mordecai Delacroix. age Twenty-five. class Breeder. hometown Bacchus Town. personality Mordecai is a free spirit. He abhors being tethered in one place and is rather adventurous. At any split second, he is prone to hoarding his belongings and his Pokémon in a knapsack, then setting sail for what the world may hold for him. There are very few things in the Kohaku region, or the world, that frighten him. However, he understands that he is not immortal and will not hesitate to rein others in if they go jumping off cliffs before looking. No matter how hard others kick and scream, Mordecai will only tighten his grip on their collars, confident that they will thank him later on (of course, not that he actually expects anything for it). Mordecai is gentle and greatly dislikes conflict. He wears a guise of apathy, though in truth, it is merely Mordecai's go-with-the-flow attitude sinking in. He's very easy-going and agreeable, which often makes people wonder if he actually heard their suggestions before making a decision. Despite typically examining all circumstances before going about something, Mordecai is prone to making impulsive decisions, and later regretting his actions. He will not hesitate to speak his mind if he feels that something is terribly wrong. He has a stubborn streak that ensures that even with a muzzle, his ideas will get across. On the other hand, Mordecai often takes pleasure in sticking around people younger than himself. He enjoys patting heads and often speaks as though he has lived an extra forty years. After all, very few can deny that the man truly is rather knowledgeable in his trade and wise beyond his years. Despite his seemingly harmless personality, Mordecai is incredibly alert of his surroundings and very often, people wonder if his smiles are genuine. For the most part, he really does have a soft heart. He will stop his work to nurse a sick Pokémon back to health, but if all hope is lost, he will not hesitate to end its misery. No one seems to know who he truly is, for the same, passionate Mordecai is also known to be terrifyingly ruthless to his enemies. He will not hesitate to extend a hand to repair relations, but fool him twice and Mordecai will make sure that a person never forgets how they wronged him. history Perhaps it was natural that Mordecai transitioned into a life with Pokémon. Although he was raised in a household of five humans, Mordecai feels more strongly that he lived in household of fifty instead. Granted, Mordecai himself was partially responsible for the massive amount of Pokémon that ran, flew, and crawled around the house that he was raised in, alongside his younger brother and sister. Most of them were Pidgey and Rattata who had been separated from families during a migration or were struggling to find something to eat, Mordecai smuggled all of them into his room and threw an absolute fit when his parents tried to oust the "pests". Eventually, his sister and brother caught on and helped him smuggle all the Pokémon back into their house (their parents consequently gave up on trying to kick all of them out and they all tried to live happily ever after). Life was easy before the Scourge. Live and let live was always the phrase that was abuzz on the streets of Bacchus Town. Mordecai adored the area, even if it was brimming with tourists who left candy wrappers all over the sidewalks. It was an ideal place for a musician such as himself to be brought up in. He had a natural affinity for music, which his parents quickly discovered. It was not much of a surprise, considering that his mother was already a well-established soprano singer, and his father, a talented celloist. His sister followed in their father's footsteps, his brother took up piano, and Mordecai, the violin. Life was carefree and very easy easy before the Scourge. It was only a year ago before the Hades virus cropped up, but if Mordecai ever forgot how the Scourge ravaged Bacchus Town, his scarred eye remains a constant reminder for the day. Every able-bodied man was sent out with all the knives, firearms, and unaffected Pokémon that the town could scrounge up as the women fled with their children. Mordecai felt invincible with the first wave of Scourge, his very first Pokémon, a Linoone. They all did. But no one had expected the second onslaught of Scourge. Bacchus Town was a town of the arts, of humanity, one that Mordecai and the majority of the townspeople absolutely refused to leave. The price of pride for Mordecai was an eye, but it should have been his life. Instead, his Pokémon paid the mortal price for him, along with the others who stayed behind to defend Bacchus Town. A gap in his memory was formed between the time that a dark-furred Mankey leapt onto his face, claws unsheathed, and the time that he awakened on the outskirts of Bacchus Town. He slipped away while everyone evacuated to Nerio City. His Linoone, his partner for all those years, gone just like that. Parents nowhere to be found, Mordecai left the premises silently. Of course, that mostly dashed all of Mordecai's hopes of ever becoming a respected trainer. Rather, after losing Linoone, he wasn't sure if he was ready to lose anymore. On the other hand, any disability was dangerous in the midst of the Scourge. It was then that Mordecai clenched his fist and resigned himself to caring for and breeding Pokémon. He would much rather be out in the battlefield, skewering the mankey that took part of his eye as a prize, but raising the Pokémon to finish that job was just as satisfying. Mordecai still wonders if he could somehow bring that Mankey home, vaccinate it, and give it the TLC that it probably missed out on. That would be the best case scenario. ooc face claim: GIN TAMA, takasugi shinsuke |
