Standing at the edge of the pool reserved for trainers with pokemon that couldn't function efficiently on land, Kieran would press the button on the pokeball clutched in his hand. This would ultimately result in his magikarp, King being released into the pool. The fish pokemon would let out a few happy 'karp's, and swim up to the edge to greet his master. "Heya, King!" the trainer would say with a wide grin as he squatted down to pat the pokemon on the head. After a moment, his expression would turn playfully serious. "Alright, buddy! It's time for another intense training session. You ready?!" When the magikarp replied with a determined stream of 'karp's and 'magikarp's, the blond man would move to the side, and hop into the water with him.
Over the course of the next hour or two, the man and magikarp would go through several drills. Mostly, it consisted of Kieran yelling encouragingly at the fish as it did laps. For now, it was all that the fish was capable of doing, but the two were positive that with enough work King would be able to beat down any pokemon. Even Arceus!
"C'Mon, King! Faster!"

It was time again. Time to train. Before, it wasn't hard to decide what he was going to do with his training time at the training center. That was because before it was just him and King against the world. Now the trainer had several pokemon to choose from to train with. He didn't want to offend the others by favoring one. Sometimes, though, you had to be selfish.
Once again, Kieran found himself standing on the edge of the training center's pool, and releasing King from his pokeball. "Alright buddy! Let's get started!" he would say, jumping into the water to join his pokemon, whom happily swum up to him when he was in the water. Placing a hand on either side of the fish pokemon, the trainer would give him a serious look. "We're gonna work extra hard today, right!? I've got good feelings about this!" The magikarp's expression would turn to a determined one as he said 'karp!' in an equally determined tone.
Along with the normal laps that King and Kieran usually did during these training sessions, the man let the magikarp use him as a punching bag of sorts, and practice tackling. The fish pokemon couldn't rely on just flopping around all the time! He had to learn some attacks sooner or later.

it is nice to see someone train their magikarp without hurting it.
HOOKEDIT: Hey, if I were a trainer, I'd do it this way too!
