His real life is not so great. His father is a real scum bag. He treats Kaito like a slave. This has been going on ever since his mother had past. His mother was a nice lady. Kind, loving, and forced to marry some drunker weirdo.

Around school he has no friends, everyone tends to stick away from him ever since they found the scars on his back from his father and that belt. But, the kinda good thing out of that is that he doesn't get bullied. Unlike some of the other kids he sees around school.

Now, that he is no longer with that crazy father of his, he can finally forefil his dream of becoming a pokemon trainer. Not just any trainer, a trainer of tactics and decision making. Not a training of going along and seeing what will happen.
