This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Mordecai had never actually seen the Amber Glade in person, so this was a first. The pool of water's surface was entirely undisturbed, save for a wayward leaf that floated towards its center. Mordecai leaned forward, slowly placing the yellow Pokémon in his arms into the water. "The feel better?" he asked the Pikachu, still grumpy from his recent loss in battle. Flavius gave him a grudging nod though, and even began to splash about in the shallow end too.
Without the yellow body and long ears (and perhaps if Flavius was actually human), he would have mistaken the creature as Isaac. It could have been him splashing about. Mordecai would have believed it, rather, would have wanted to believe it.
But all good things ended, and Flavius tugged on the man's sleeve, as if to ask Mordecai to entertain him.
mordecai wasn't the only one who was enjoying the cool waters of amber glade. several feet away, a bouffalant stood by the shore, lapping at the rejuvanating waters. he had been born and bred on this water, so he is as healthy as can be. there was no doubt in the bouffalent's head that he is the most superior of his species, fit to do with the forest as he saw fit.
which meant that no one else was allowed to touch the glade's pristine waters, of course. upon the sight of a trainer and his pikachu, the bouffalant leers at them before charging in for a fury attack

Flavius let out a screech as the wild Bouffalant charged at him. Mordecai managed to quickly gather the Pikachu in his arms and tumbled out of the way. The Pikachu shivered in his arms as the man glanced at the treetops. "Mel, trouble!" he called, relieved that he had let the Beedrill out for some fresh air.
With a whirr of wings, the Beedrill descended, stingers coated in honey. Mordecai lifted Flavius into the air, to which the Beedrill swept past the human and Pokémon. The Pikachu nimbly leapt onto the Beedrill's back, giving the wasp Pokémon a quick pat on the back to let him know that he was all aboard. Granted, this was a little impromptu, but two heads worked much better than one.
As the Beedrill went in with a Harden attack to brace for any potential impacts, the Pikachu on his back let loose a Thundershock.
the bouffalant only snorts doubtfully at the appearance of the beedrill. if she wanted to meet his horns head-on, then she is more than welcome to. some of the thundershock is partially insulated by his wooly afro, but the attack is enough to send the bouffalant into a rage. he is used to opponents running away in fear, not calling for backup.
still, the beedrill is of little consequence. his head clouded by anger, he charges in the direction of the pair, forgetting the trainer for the moment.

Flavius has enough foresight to cast a Wish in anticipation of any future damage that the Bouffalant could cause. Neither the Pikachu nor the Beedrill had ever seen a Bouffalant before, but from the speed of that charge, Flavius could tell that the Pokémon was not one to be trifled with. The Pokémon's wooly head connects with the Beedrill's carapace of a body, sending the Pokémon reeling off balance. Thankfully, the Pokémon didn't appear to be at maximum anger levels, and the Bouffalant's wooly head did little damage. Mordecai was also rather relieved that the Beedrill had strengthened his defenses before leaping into battle.
The Pikachu's paws gripped the Beedrill's smooth body tightly as the Pokémon sailed downward towards the Bouffalant, stingers stretched out in front of it. There was a faint purple glow to them as their tips oozed a noxious venom. Mel's wings hummed as he drew nearer to the Bouffalant, before thrusting his stingers with a Poison Sting forward, to try and sink them into the Bouffalant's furry hide.
the beedril's stingers may bleed purple, but the bouffalant only sees red. the pain in its body serves to enrage him further, and he is more determined than ever to decimate his foes. the bouffalant is quick to swerve around, and he lashes out with another rage before attempting to smash them in with an iron head, charging with all his might.

The Beedrill is hit by the Bouffalant's Rage, but manages to sneak out of the Iron Head's range just in time. Mel goes ricocheting off into the forest, Flavius' paws gripping the wasp Pokémon's body tightly from his back. He let out a squeak and the little mouse Pokémon's body glows as his wish is fulfilled. It gave the Pikachu an extra burst of energy, to which his red cheeks sparked to cheer the Beedrill on, before letting loose a Thundershock for good measure.
Mel's weakening wingbeats pick up speed. With renewed resolve from the Pikachu's encouragement, Mel sailed in the air with Flavius cheering the Pokémon on. It was a cute little show that the Pikachu was making, aided by a Charm. The Bouffalant's attack power was a force to be reckoned with, but with a bit of encouragement from Flavius, Mel felt his confidence soar as he whizzed forward, throwing his power behind a Fury Attack.
the bouffalant falters a bit when the thundershock hits, cringing at the pain, which feels much sharper than it did the first time. still, there is some satisfaction from knocking that upstart beedrill aside.
bouffalant is not so much charmed by pikachu's performance as he is confused. his momentary distraction costs him the chance to avoid the fury attack, and he is toppled by the beedrill's stingers. he falls over, creating a large imprint in the ground with his weight.

The more the merrier, or so Mordecai figured. The Bouffalant already proven himself to be a formidable fighter. By now, Mel had landed on the grass too, Flavius rolling off the Beedrill's back. "Nice work," the breeder said, rubbing the Beedrill's smooth back, and the Pikachu spins around towards him for a high-five. The Beedrill hummed in reply, rubbing his conical stingers against each other. One more thing to do then. Mordecai glanced at the Pikachu, who gave him a nod.
From the spare Pokéballs in his pocket, the breeder tosses one at the fallen Bouffalant. The capsule bounces harmlessly off the Pokémon's thick hide. He disappears into the red light as the Pokéball begins to wobble to and fro.
