Bardrick stared at the Dream Tree in all its majesty. It glowed so fiercely like always. This whole world of thought, it was so free of the horrors of the outside world, he almost felt like he could escape them himself when he was here. The ache in his chest faded softly away as he took his place sitting at the base of the tree. He could open himself up without fear that the truth of the world would crush him under its weight. Memories stirred, and he was allowed to actually, truly, feel.

Feeling, wasn't always something he wanted. Especially now. Especially after locking them away for so long. That ache returned, but this time it was able to pry his emotions from the bottle he'd locked them in. Memories of his pokemon, the lives he lived with them before the Scourge. Their end at its hands. Despite the beauty that surrounded him he found himself crying pitifully in his hands. He missed them. They had been his best friends for 16 long, hard years. To have them all gone, and to have no opportunity to put them to rest or grieve for them. The loss hurt. It hurt in ways he couldn't describe. Ways he wouldn't.

"I miss you, I miss you all so much..." A sad broken utterance, mingling freely with the tears running down his face.

After the long walk to Juno City and the excitement of getting her partner pokemon, Alary had decided to take a nap in a park bench. Not two seconds after her eyes closed, they reopened underneath the soothing canopy of the Tree of Dreams. Her exhaustion was gone, probably because she was still asleep in the real world. Even though she had trouble convincing herself this wasn't the real world in its own way.

The sound of her pokemon's complaint caught her ear, and the sight of the pokemon glaring at her caught her eye. Nervously, she adjusted her jacket and hat, having a decent idea of what the pokemon was trying to get across. That was definitely a disapproving look. He was probably upset she was sleeping. He'd joined her expecting adventure, not sleep.

"C'mon Alder! You like the name Alder?" She had thought up the name on the spot, and after getting a nod she went on, "As soon as I finish this nap we'll get straight to work! I promise, this'll be one of the very few. Then we'll get out there, get stronger, and fight that Scourge back for good!" And with that Alary took up a spot underneath the tree's canopy. Patting its bark, she crossed her legs and tried to take advantage of her unconscious conscious. Meditate while sleeping, the ultimate soothing exercise. A sigh next to her alerted her to Alder doing the same. She smiled.
