This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

It was a rather boring day for Emily. She'd decided to take a break from training to let her pokemon swim in the water near an empty dock. Blaze was sunning behind her while she dipped her toes in the water; Munch was eating some leftovers while Pree and Mirage were floating around in the water.
Other than the sound of waves lapping around the docks, it was relatively quiet. And Emily was glad for such a relaxing day off.
Heal and Oliver were having a pretty great time with each other, the pair had decided to go to the docks. The pair had sparred earlier, and well, to be honest, sparring with Pokemon wasn't exactly the same as sparring with people - it didn't have the same kind of rush but she couldn't wait for him to evolve. When he was bigger than her, and could probably pick her up and throw into a wall - that's when the challenge would come. Right now, Oliver was small and Heal was bigger.
Cypress sat proudly on her shoulder, and Stitch was doing what Gulpins do. Stitch was just being a Gulpin, bumping into poles - and a girl. Wait a girl? "Stitch!" She called ot - running towards the gulpin and picked it up. "I'm so sorry, Stitch is so new to the world."
Eh? Emily felt something bump into her back and she turned around to see a cute little Gulping being swooped up by a girl. She was apologizing but Emily only laughed and stood, waving her arms. "No, it's fine! He didn't do any harm!"
The girl was surrounded by pokemon, and Emily assumed she was a trainer. "My name's Emily. You've got some really nice pokemon with you!"
"Are you sure?" She asked. She held Stitch protectively in her arms. He was nothing but a new born, a sweet baby. It was honestly refreshing to see someone that didn't scold him for bumping into them. He was such a silly creature.
"I'm Heal, and thank you." Her face lit up a slight pink color as the girl complemented her Pokemon, though Oliver waddled to her side like the protective little thing that he was. "You have some pretty neat pokemon too." Heal assumed that the pokemon near the girl happened to be her's.
"What brings you to the city?" Heal wondered. Though this place seemed to be some sort of safe haven from the scourge, and it seemed to have slipped her mind that people could actually be born in such busy places.
Emily smiled at her new company, glad to have someone to chat with for a little while. When asked why she was in the city, the trainer shrugged her shoulders. "I was just taking a break from training. We haven't had a day off in over a week so we needed some time to just hang out."
Blaze looked up to the trainer, making a soft mewling sound. Emily looked to him and smiled, then turned her head back to the girl. "Hey! You wanna hang out with us today?"
Oliver stepped right in front of Heal, rather protectively. Heal doubted that anyone could take that happy face very seriously, he was just so cute. "Oliver relax, you're a sweetie pie but I can handle myself." She said softly, but it didn't even seem to phase him, and he mumbled something back to her or rather yelled, but it was low key. It probably had something to do with an order her father gave him before he placed him in her PC. Shesh, sometimes she needed some time to breathe.
She was well, overjoyed with the idea of hanging out with someone. She didn't really have many friends, well, she had Jayden but Jayden didn't really count anymore. She had Oliver, and she had a few kids her age back home but no one really at the moment. "Yeah I'd love it!"
"This little guy is Oliver." She patted the his head, then she pointed to the Starly on her shoulder. "This one is Cypress." The Pokemon made some sort of noise to acknowledge the girl. "This little guy is Stitch." Stitch didn't really pay much attention to the girls, he was more intent on staring at girl's hair.
"It's nice to meet you all!" Emily smiled at the group, before looking down to Oliver. "It's okay, I promise I'm not crazy or anything!" At this Blazer scoffed, and Emily gave him a look of disapproval. "Ignore him; he gets grumpy when he's had too much to eat."
The trainer then sat down in her original spot, patting the dock beside her. "Would you like to sit? I've just been letting my pokemon swim since it's such a nice day out."
She wondered if it were alright to send the rest of team out, but it didn't take long for her to fling her three remaining Pokeballs into the air. She released Max, Dex, and Eden. Max wondered off to the other side of the dock, no wonder. Eden snuggled up to Heal's leg, and Dex well - she tried to fly off the dock, which caused her to land in the water. She struggled until her own natural instincts took over. Bird pokemon were not supposed to float as easily as Dex did, perhaps Dex was a super flying type. Yeah that had to be it.
"This is the rest of the gang, I hope you don't mind." She said as she sat down beside the girl. "It's a lovely day."
"Um, I'm a trainer for the Eos program. What do you do?" It was awkward, Heal really had no idea what to say to the girl.
"Have you met anyone interesting in your travels?"
Emily watched as Heal released the rest of her group into the air. Her group seemed to get along just fine with the other, which made the trainer smile. No battles today, she had to remind herself. Today is a relaxation day.
She turned her head to the other girl when she spoke about the Eos program. "I'm in it too! Although I'm not from this region so I don't really get it...I haven't fought Scourge yet because I don't feel like I'm strong enough."
When asked about her travels, Emily nodded and let out a laugh. "Once in the Hoenn region I met a psychotic clown with six Magikarp on his belt. It was so weird."
"I haven't either." Heal certainly wasn't ready to face the scourge, perhaps after she decided to challenge the gym she'd become strong enough. Though she needed to vaccinate all her Pokemon first, they were definitely the first thing on her list to actually do.
"Six magikarp?" That made her wonder, were the magikarp in pokeballs, were they skinned, or were they just hanging there? That left Heal with so many questions. "This is actually my first time out of Cura Village, and you've already been to different regions. That's so cool, can you tell me about your travels?" The fact that this girl had been places amazed Heal.
Emily laughed, shrugging her shoulders. Even if Heal didn't mean her words to act as a compliment, she took them as one. "Well, I've tried my best to see as many places as possible. But I had to work hard to gather up enough money to start out. I'm originally from the Kanto region."
She was very proud of this fact, mostly because Ash Ketchum originated there. But then again, she'd told this to a few people from Kohaku and no one seemed to know who he was! A sad fact, really. Maybe she needed to start educating people on history outside of the region?
"Anyway, where's your village? I haven't heard of it before. But then again I haven't traveled much of this region yet."
"That's so far." She noted, she had only occasionally even heard of Kanto, her father had mentioned it once or twice. "That most have been tough." Her father had given her the money she needed, not much, but enough to start her off. She wouldn't let him give her anything more, she was here to be independent, which she was and fairly proud of herself.
"Cura? It's nestled in between the deserts and the mountains. It's about a three day continuous run to get there, if you know the shortcuts." Oh boy, getting to Juno was a tiring pain in her butt. "Where from Kanto are you?"
A three day's straight run?! Geez, that seemed far. Emily listened intently, nodding her head. "Ahh, I haven't made it that far yet. I've gotten to Nerio but that's it." she mused, thinking about her time in Kohaku.
"It's much different here that back in Kanto. I'm from Pallet Town, a small little town with nothing in it except for Professor Oak's lab."
