This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

This was the first time she'd ever been in a dream battle before. So if she lost she'd just blame it on the fact that this wasn't reality and she was obviously better in reality. So she entered the arena, Tepig walking beside her.
They formally met a few seconds ago, but it doesn't matter, because a long day deserved a nap or so and he just happened to end up here every time he dreamed. The sphere balanced comfortably on his index finger and thumb, different from the pulsing, throbbing heat that scorched them when he held that thing, and it was almost serene.
"Jayden." Ralts, red light disappearing from its body as he spoke, stood quietly, looking slightly dazed and maybe even overwhelmed.
"Eden." She responded, watching as Tepig took his place on the battle field. Eden was a woman of few words during battle, and she intended to keep it that way.
Pokemon dodged when they were in peril, without having to endlessly rely on trainers. He knew this and it seemed ralts knew too, but it put up two white paws to take the ember attack. and averted its gaze, trying to control shaking sensation those piercing eyes gave it.
"Double team." He ignored the way its paws were gaining a slight layer of black soot. "Confusion." Ralts transferred both paws to its chest and pursed its mouth in concentration, rapid firing both attacks one after the other.
"Dodge that Confusion and counter with Ember." Eden said in a low tone, watching the battle with dull eyes. Although she seemed bored, it was actually quite interesting. This whole battle in a dream thing. So she'd continue, hoping they could indeed win.
The tepig nodded and dodged the Confusion, although the Double Team seemed effective on messing up his battle stretegy.
Little wisps of flames came rushing at it. Ralts sidestepped, feeling a light tingle in its paws that wasn't just from that small thrill of satisfaction. It's clones clustered around themselves instinctively, for protection.
"Again." Jayden nodded his head as ralts raised up its paws and sent another blast of psychic energy towards its opponent.
Tepig took the Confusion, knocking him across the arena. It took him a while to get up, but he did get up, which was the good thing. Although one more attack like that and he'd be done for easily. Eden kept calm, watching the battle with her half-lidded eyes.
"Ember again." she said, and the Tepig sent a jet of flames toward the Ralts.
The flames were hot, scorching a spot that hadn't healed and Ralts gave a small cry, clutching its paw as it started to gain a charcoal-like texture. Slowly, it turned its head towards Jayden, and Jayden nodded.
Bent over slightly, half shaking, the psychic type raised its paw up again and fired another blast of energy at its opponent.
Special attacks weren't Tepig's style. The fire type had a low resistance to said attacks, and it wouldn't take another hit like that. Plus he was tired, and Eden knew this battle was lost.
Of course he tried to dodge, but the confusion hit him square in the chest, knocking him out cold. Eden nodded and returned him to his ball, and looked to her opponent. "Thanks for the battle." Then she left, only to wake up moments later.
"Yeah, thanks." Jayden nodded, recalling Ralts. And he mused that he would've ended the dream with something sentimental, like a rematch proclamation of sorts, but people that he met in the battle arena didn't show up twice. He doubted Eden might be that odd exception.
