This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

"Dont go too far ahead Ace, I wanna be able to see too." A stern voiced called out ahead, the setting sun casting a shadow on the eastern side of the warehouse. A hoothoot had flown up ahead his eyes glowing a red beam ahead of them, but the bird pokemon had went a little too far ahead, leaving the trainer in the dimming light of the shadows. While he wasn't been so strict with Ace as he would have been with his other pokmeon, he didn't hide his annoyance in his voice.
"Get back here!" He shouted out and the bird pokemon shocked slightly by his trainer's tone of voice, paused and landed on the ground, looking shamed. Chase picked up his pace and went right for the bird pokemon, squatting down to look at him in the face. "When I tell you to slow down you gotta slow down. You might be vaccinated but doesn't mean those things won't hurt you so you gotta stay close." Chase told him, reaching out to pat his pokemon's head and the bird cooed softly.
"Hoot hoot ho"<I'm really sorry> He answered nipping gently in tender bites of affection on Chase's fingers. Defusing their issue, Chase stood up and allowed Ace to perch on his outstretched arm before once again flapping his ever active wings to glide in small loops and circles around Chase. "Keep your eyes peeled, hear a sound foresight in that direction. We gotta be able to see what's going on in the shadows. Might be lucky and find something good." Chase told him as Ace did large loops, flying ahead again but with a click of Chase's tongue against his teeth, Ace understood that was his allowed distance and swooped to be closer.
The sun had finally disappeared and while it might be seen as reckless to go out alone in the darkness and shadows of an old warehouse, searching along it's exterior walls for pokemon, Chase enjoyed the thrill and excitement. Sure there was a certain air of fear with out and about in the dark, but he had Ace and while their relationship was young, they shared a kind of blind faith within each other, a silent vow to protect each other and with that they feared nothing.

"Get back here!" The voice did not belong to Chase, nor did it sound anything like the Hoothoot. The Pokémon hums to itself, its dark head bobbing to and fro, the little quaver at the end waving back and forth. He chuckled to himself, before adding, "Hoot hoot ho," just because he could. He didn't mean to offend or mock anyone; it was all the little Chatot knew how to do. He really did enjoy seeing new visitors in the area! They were rather entertaining.
The Chatot hummed to himself as he hovered above the man and the Hoothoot's head. "Keep your eyes peeled, keep your eyes peeled!" he cawed. Oh yes, he was going to have plenty of fun with this pair. The warehouse gave the Pokémon lots of cover to hide away from the two as well. It kicked over a crate, just for kicks, just to disorient the trainer. Because why not? This warehouse was his territory; he was obligated to defend it.

Chase was trying not to feel panicked, he tried to keep that 'I'm brave' and kept repeating to himself that he could run away if anything got bad, just return Ace to his pokeball and book it somewhere safe. While he was walking along the end of the warehouse, his hand gliding along it's cold surface he heard the sound of words but wasn't able to make them out. Ace on the other had paused and flew closer to Chase not wanting to be too far from his trainer. However they both froze mid step at the sound of the crate crashing to the ground.
Without a command Ace use foresight to look around, he was able to find where the crate had crashed, but not the reason it did. The sounds of their words being put on a repeat broght out tension in them as they kept close to one another. Ace was uneasy, he hadn't been in this kind of situation ever but Chase trying to seem more brave then he felt took a protective stance, directing Ace to perch on his arm and patted his pokemon's feathers.
"Hey I know your in here, come out where ever you are." chase called out into the darkness, Ace was nervous but feeding off of Chase's bravery to feel less like prey. "Hoothoot!"<Show yourself!" He cried out, his sound a little shakey.

The Chatot clacked his beak at the Hoothoot from behind a crate. The noise reverberated through the abandoned warehouse, making a hollow noise that bounced around the building. He chuckled to himself. "Come out, come out!" the creature mocked, before adding its own, "Hoothoot! Hoothoot!" Oh, this was so much fun! The Pokémon hummed to himself from behind another crate. The Hoothoot was absolutely terrified, which made him grin with glee.
The Chatot counted in its head, slowly, to ten. Then it popped out from behind the wooden crate with a Growl. Time for the main event then. He was going to have himself some fun, fun, lots of fun.

Blue-green eyes narrowed as the mocking pokemon came out from behind the crate, the well played growl had Ace frozen for a moment, already gaining the upper hand. He wasn't going to be able to get Ace to move more then a few feet, it was kind of ironic, since hoothoots spent most of their time in the dark, but Ace has never battled it was first time jitters.
Use Hypnosis Chase said a loud, just as Ace's eyes started to glow red and his attention was on Chatot, trying to put the poekmon to sleep.
The Chatot was a crafty one. The Pokémon managed to nimbly dodge the Hypnosis attack. <Ahaha, too easy!> the Pokémon chanted, before using a Mirror Move to return the Hypnosis attack. This was fun. It was much better than the last prey that the Chatot had found to bother (this had mostly been due to the fact that the enemy Pokémon had succeeded in beating the Chatot up). The creature hopped from foot to foot. So what if he expended his dodges early? This was far too much fun to pass up!
