This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

"hey, that's a good move right there! super potion's a good strategy, trainer!"
peridot shrieked at the ivysaur, unleashing another metal sound straight towards its face. the shieldon had had its attempt to taunt the plant pokémon thwarted, and it wasn't happy about it.
"don't get mad over nothing, peridot!" jasper yelled in order to keep his pokémon encouraged. "hang in there, alright? use rock slide!"
the shieldon nodded at the gym leader, puffed out its chest, and sent forth another barrage of rocks.
The first half of the battle was heading towards its climax. The Ivysaur began walking proudly forward, both the opponent’s shriek and pummelling striking him; yet he took it within his stride, damaged but still advancing.
The stride built up to a Tackle, the Sheildon directly in the way of this last stand as this Pokemon’s stubby legs carried him faster and faster with every foot; about a metre before impact his flower spewed out a cloud of dust straight at the enemy, Sleep Powder.
Within seconds the opponent was asleep, struck…or both.
All that could be certain however was that within the next minute or so only one Pokemon would be left standing in this arena.

[Ivysaur hit by Metal Sound & Rock Slide, Ivysaur used Sleep Powder & Tackle on Sheildon]
"ah!" jasper cried in surprise as the shower of sleeping powder scattered from the ivysaur's flower. he stood tall despite the blow to his pokémon. peridot had taken both the sleep powder and the tackle attack; the shieldon went skidding across the gym floor, its demeanor calm despite being battered.
it was fast asleep, but jasper didn't give up. "peridot, wake up!"
Then it struck her, something somewhere had said that normal moves should not be used against most fossil Pokemon due to their build; Courtney was now quite sure of that fact…but was it too late?
The Sheildon, despite being shunted back was really rather halcyon within its slumber, murmuring slightly despite the attack. The Ivysaur began reeling to build up another charge just as the trainer wailed at him:
“Use Vine Whip! Then your attack will go through!”
The Ivysaur took a few hesitant moments to listen, trying to receive comfort from any such expectation after so many offensives were foiled; he simply made no reply, but turned immediately back to the sleeping beast and tossed it aside using Vine Whip.
As the Sheildon began moving a passionate roar could be heard from the Pokemon struck with wrath; the little dinosaur was soon surrounded by seeds.

"peridot, wake up!" jasper urged, but the shieldon was still fast asleep. watching his pokémon getting pelted by vines and seeds hurt the gym leader. he watched on anxiously, hoping against hope for peridot to wake.
<50 wakes up
still fast asleep, jasper sighed as a green glow took over peridot's body, sapping precious energy to recover the ivysaur's health. this battle had took a turn for the worse!
In a way it was kind of sad, as it slept the Sheildon was pelted with vines and seeds while it appeared to mutter sweetly in it’s slumber. The Ivysaur took no chances in letting it wake up, immediately slaughtering with another round of deadly vines – in the end the enemy had done more harm to themselves than good with the taunts, leaving the Ivysaur with a bitter anger.
“There’s no point in bothering with a defensive move Ivysaur, this half is pretty much done”
Possibly famous last words - although within that time Courtney had bent down to the Smoochum that held up it’s arms for love, she picked it between her two hands and smiled, whispering:
“It’s you next little one…”
(I'm now using Courtney's default template but canonly her fc hasn't evolved yet...just ignore that orz)
the shieldon was successfully knocked out by the ivysaur. frowning slightly in disappointment, jasper recalled his pokémon. he soon brightened up, however, as he sent forth another pokéball that contained agate, his archen. the fossil specialist grinned brightly.
"this is agate, my archen," said the gym leader. agate gave a small squawk of interest at its opponent, as the stealth rock from before swirled about the arena menacingly.
