This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

They called her a queen, and her abode matched it. Laced with gold, Evie’s eyes glittered as she spent more than an ordinary person would gazing at a wall, clenching at the shoulder bag that sat at her hip; it was soft, comforting in a place that was as uncomfortable as can be. After a while she was directed towards Lady Mercedes’ office, where she now modestly knocked.
"If you cannot answer which moves a bred Pokémon will receive from its parents, do not think of entering my office." Lady Mercedes' tone was scathing, sharp, but also lacked an edge. It was clear that she was running rather low on energy. The woman sighed to herself as she massaged her temples. This was the sixth breeder that had entered the Breeder's Guild today, and she'd sent all five of them away because they could not answer her question correctly. It was basic breeder's knowledge. How could they be so ignorant? How could Eos be so ignorant?
Behind the oaken door, the woman shuffled about the papers on her desk, searching for the prospective breeder's paperwork. She'd left it somewhere on her desk. Lady Mercedes refused to believe that she was getting rusty. She was not rusty, merely exhausted.
Evie hadn’t expected such a sharp response, but was not thrown off, simply holding her finger to her lip for a few seconds in deep thought. She had no breeding experience as such but recently had read a few books on the matter. Pressing a hand to the door hesitantly she let out a soft reply:
“My lady, if either parent knows any of the baby’s level-up moves or tm moves they can learn or even any of the babies egg moves…they will know those moves…well at least, just two of them”
For a few seconds her palm carried on resting upon the walnut, waiting for a reply, half expecting that she wouldn’t receive one. Her violet eyes gazing at a particularly large growth ring in the wood – almost running a finger along it.
Lady Mercedes stood from her chair so fast that the poor piece of furniture flew straight into the wall. "Yes, yes!" she finally shouted from her office. "Good, very good!" There was an immense amount of relief in her voice. She'd been absolutely and utterly fed up with breeders waltzing through her doors with the impression that she'd give away her Pokémon that she'd bred simply to anyone who asked. So the woman hurried to unlock the office door, though stopped herself before she opened it. Instead, Lady Mercedes ran her fingers through her long, silvery hair, patted the creases out of her skirt, and when she was done, opened the door.
"Come in," she says, composure regained. "Come in and take a seat, for I have a few papers for you to fill out. It is only the customary information required, name, address, such and such. It won't be too much trouble." She gestures to the empty seat in front of her desk. There is already an Eos form lying upon the desk and a heavy fountain pen asleep at its side.
Surprisingly, she found herself swanned to an open seat, laced with a velvet cushion and particularly hard to get settled in. Picking up the pen she began to let her answers flow, the cushion occasionally slipping and leaving the paper tainted by a few accidental strokes. When finished, Evie turned back to Lady Mercedes, having to stop herself from stroking the curtain of silver hair; the Lady looked like a princess - if they really did exist she was one.
Looking up at the woman stood above, Evie’s dress floated slightly as she folded her legs - blinking for a new reply.
Lady Mercedes took the papers, perhaps, a little too eagerly. "Good, good," the woman said. A Vulpix at her side leaped onto a nearby stool. The woman held out a stick of red wax, which the fire Pokémon blew a bit of Embers onto. Lady Mercedes dripped the running red wax upon an envelope that contained the Eos papers, taking her own stamp, imprinting the Breeder's Guild seal upon it. It was a rather ceremonious event.
She stowed the envelope in the drawer of her desk. "Come with me, then, Eva," she said.
Lady Mercedes strolled to the back of her office, opening a locked door located there. She gestured for Eva to follow, disappearing down the hall. At the second door, the woman blinked her eyes as a red light scanned her retinas, and with mechanical clicks, the heavy metal door swung open. A giant computer, touch-screen, was located at the center. The woman inputted a complicated, numerical password, and a holographic display projected a group of ten Pokémon.
Ah, and her very manner was like that of a princess, a light smile spreading as a motion was made towards the doorway. The whole way Evie found herself gazing at ruby and ruby upon a pair of porcelain cheeks; it was ever so hypnotising. The babe breeder could feel her cheeks lightly burning with wonder.
Taking a few moments to observe the computer, she named the Beldum and the Poliwag. They had never had much technology at home, a small television and an old games console; this was a major step up.
Looking back up with blinking eyes once again, the spun drape of silver silk was too much to bear, Evie placing a hand on Lady Mercede’s hair with a soft smile and a whisper:
“…You’re beautiful…”

The woman tapped the holographic images twice; the computer purred as a pair of Pokéballs dropped out of it, into a tray. Lady Mercedes plucked the two capsules, pressing them into Eva's palms. "The Poliwag and the Beldum, then," she said. "I trust that you shall take very good care of them." And if she didn't, well, Mercedes would find a way to learn whether or not this breeder was taking care of her Pokémon.
Lady Mercedes raised a brow as Eva laid a hand upon her soft hair. She knew that she was a rather attractive woman, but compliments were never brushed off by her. "Thank you," the woman stated, returning her hands back to her sides. "Though, enough about my own hair. You have much work to do."
