This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

"Stay close," Larsa warns Samwise as the two of them venture deeper into Ceres Forest. Messor Rock, the landmark, is up ahead. It's something of a relief to Larsa; he feels as if he's been walking about in circles. The Archen at his side doesn't look tired at all though. In fact, the Pokémon seems to skip about and flap his pseudo-arm/wings about. He wonders if the Archen thinks that if he flaps hard enough, he'll be able to fly.
He leans against the large rock in Ceres. Samwise scratches a bit at the rock, as if attempting to climb atop it. "Here, Sam," the trainer says, lifting the Pokémon up to the top of the rock. The Pokémon flails his arms about, squawking loudly. He can see the entirety of the forest from there, or at least, he likes to think that he can. In Sam's head, he is a king, and the world of Kohaku is his kingdom. He wonders why Larsa does not bow down to him.
"Careful you don't fall," Larsa warns the Archen with a chipper expression.
as larsa and his archen walked, they would soon find themselves snared in a massive web. these kakuna had strung up string shot all over the place to scare off those who wandered into their territory; the cocoon pokémon needed quiet and relaxing atmospheres to encourage their evolution. they waited patiently within their exoskeletons. they were all asleep.
With a quick Wing Attack, Samwise managed to chop a piece of sticky String Shot free from his foot. The Kakuna had succeeded in ensnaring the fossil Pokémon, but the Archen was on top of things today. He'd freed himself without making any noise to wake the slumbering Pokémon.
"Would you look at that?" Larsa whispered. "Looks like they're on their way to evolving."
Cool evening dew glistened on the Pokémon's shells. Larsa gestured for Samwise to follow him, and the Archen (loyal to his name) continued to follow his trainer. They still needed to find a way out from Ceres Forest, one that preferably didn't send them waltzing past a horde of Kakuna. If those Pokémon awakened, that would spell trouble for both of them. Granted, the Kakuna probably wouldn't chase them very far, but where there were Kakuna in the process of evolving, there were Beedrill.
The trainer and Pokémon headed back towards Messor Rock.
larsa and samwise (wisely) left the kakuna alone to their own devices. no one wanted a hive of beedrill to attack them, and the idea of the cocoons evolving to buffer up their forces was a thought best left to imagination rather than experience. messor rock was less known for being host to beedrill hives, and more known for strange apparitions -
- a thin veil of purple mist surrounded the area that the trainer ventured into next. the gas hung low, but it was deadly.
behind a fallen trunk, a skuntank mother was napping as its young played a game of tag.

There was a putrid smell that hung in the area. Larsa wrinkled his nose as he recognized three silhouettes as Stunky. The trainer scooped the Archen up in his arms, pinching his own nose shut, all while clamping the Archen's beak shut and covering the Pokémon's nostrils. "Don't breathe," he hissed to the Pokémon, waiting for the faint, purplish miasma to settle.
And when it did, Samwise plopped back to the floor. The acrid smell was still in the air. Only one way to get rid of it, then. He flapped his pseudo-wings, replicating his own form until there were three different Archen hopping from foot to foot.

the stunky kids were happy to see a new playmate, and they all mobbed the archen. or at least, they tried to. squealing and yelling happily, they tried to find the real samwise, chattering to themselves all the while.
This isn't fun and games to the Archen. This is serious business! The fact that Samwise is taking it seriously makes things all the more humorous to Larsa. He only raises a brow before deciding that he will play along.
The Archen replicas quaver a bit as the three Stunky leap at them. Samwise flaps his pseudo-arms again, cawing at the Stunky. He is fierce, and he is angry! He demands that the Stunky come at him, and his face screams FIGHT ME!!1111
But alas, the Stunky don't seem to get it. He pulls an angry face at the three of them.
Larsa laughs at the Archen's efforts. "C'mon, Samwise," the man says. "Momentai." But the Archen will have none of it. He wonders if the Stunky are mocking him, and he pours all this uncertainty into the ugly face that he pulls.

the stunky trio laugh and snicker at samwise. the ugly face it pulled did it not favors. its face might even be frozen in that kind of look, and it would be side-splitting hilarity for them. in retaliation, they spat out a thick layer of smokescreen just to spite the archen.
then they darted away to find a hiding spot to hide in, amused with their new playmate.
Larsa coughs on the Smokescreen too. It not only sprays inky blackness into the already-dark area, but it also smells a little bit off. The trainer covers his mouth and nose with the crook of his arm. "Samwise, I think you're losing," he says, though the Archen hasn't realized the reason why he was losing was due to the fact that the Stunky were not taking this seriously.
Samwise growled, leering in the Stunky's general direction as they darted away. He stomped his feet and summoned energy from the ground. The soil rippled and burst forth in smaller craters, creating a few new obstacles for the Stunky to dodge. The Archen didn't even realize that Larsa was happy to go along with it. The Stunky got their playtime, and the Archen got his exercise.

the stunky shrieked, laughter ringing in the forest air as they evaded the earth power. samwise was a horrible aim. the stunky ran away once again, yipping and snapping to get the archen's attention.
the skuntank mommy cracked open an eye and glanced at its young who were playing. it was wary for a brief moment, but after ascertaining that none of its children were harmed, it settled back down.
Larsa was a bit worried there, that the mother Skuntank would be furious about Samwise attacking her children. The Skuntank went right back to sleep, and the trainer wondered if the Archen should be offended by that. Then again, Samwise was a little busy trying to catch the Stunky in his jaws, mostly because his arms weren't powerful enough to snatch other things in them.
The Archen stomped his feet again as the Stunky threw themselves at him. They were making an awful lot of noise. He growled and grumbled. If it was a game of chase that these Pokémon wanted, so be it. He disappeared in a streak of color, chasing after a Stunky with a new burst of speed. As irritated that he was by the Pokémon's antics, the Archen was starting to have fun as well. Of course, he would never, in a hundred years, be ready to admit this.

one of the stunky was bowled over, and it immediately started to bawl its eyes out. why was brute force used in this game? it wailed louder and louder, but its mother showed no signs of waking up. the mom was happy to let its child learn a lesson or two in pain.
its siblings quickly rose to the occasion by spraying the archen with a dose of smokescreen.
"Awesome, Samwise. Look what you've done now," the trainer said with a frown. "You made the Stunky cry. Good job."
The Archen flapped his arms. He did not make the Stunky cry! This entire game of chase had occurred because the skunk Pokémon hadn't taken him seriously in the first place (or so the entire event had unfolded in this manner inside the Archen's mind). Samwise was rather easy to guilt-trip, and seeing the Stunky in tears was making him feel rather awful.
So the Pokémon began to gather pebbles, stacking them atop each other to build a tower, all in the name of amusing the three little Stunky.

Larsa felt a Pokéball shake in his bag. He blinked, pulling the capsule from its contents. He had never seen the Larvitar so restless. "Sauron, what are you doing?" he asked the red-and-white Pokéball, and as if to answer, the Pokéball popped open. The Larvitar crawled out of the capsule and gazed up at the rocky tower. He folded his arms over his chest, observing this tower.
"What are you staring so intently at, Sauron?" Larsa asked the Pokémon.
The Larvitar brushed his partner off and began to climb up the pile of rocks.
Samwise was very confused.
As a matter of fact, so was Larsa.
