This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Hector rubbed his eye patch, a nervous habit he had developed ever since Coldhart farm had been destroyed. Getting used to the lack of depth perception was something that was still taking some time to get used to. Still, These boots would keep on walking. "And that's just what they'll do," he sang, laughing at his train of thought. His aunt had defentatly influenced his music taste ever since moving out here to this town. One of the greater virtues of it was that he was so close to the labs daily. Now just to introduce himself.
Hector walked up the leading steps, weary that he might have come a little early. He checked his poketech watch his aunt gave him. Sadly, all it could serve as at the moment was a watch, but still. He lost track of time so easily with his memory, it was better then nothing. "Only 8:45 in the morning huh? Maybe still a little to early." he smirked, chucking at his own nerves. He was already here, ready to beg ask for a new pokemon from the professor/ researchers here to help fight, but he was losing her nerve on the steps because he thought it was to early. "I'm my own worse enemy," he thought, walking up the last few steps, having stopped half way up.
"Hello?" hector asked, opening the door to the inside the lab. "Professor Cypress, are you here today?" I asked, giving a knocking on the door, smirking at it. "He might still be sleeping," He thought, hoping he was wrong.
It was never too early for the Professor. After the scourge attack on the Lab, he'd rarely gotten a good six hours of sleep. But hey, no sleep meant more time to work! So Cypress was up, working on something that required a bit too much paperwork.
He jumped slightly when someone knocked at the door, and quickly he popped up to answer the call. "Yes! I'm here! Hang on-ACK!" As he ran, he slipped on some rogue papers and fell face first on the ground. Ms. Sybil rolled her eyes and walked to the door, opening it to the male.
"Professor," Hector said, smiling as he stepped in. He was surprised as the professor was awake already, but course he was. Maybe he was actually a morning bird. Hector had a worried thought that he might be a mad researcher morning person, but he shook that thought away. Not the best thing to think that the guy that was gonna give you a pokemon and start you off was mad. Well, not mad, but insane. Mad you could work with. He chuckled at that, and held his hand out.
"My name's Hector sir. Hector Coldhart. I think I had an appointment with you today." He gave off a pleasant aura, and it was actually real to. He couldn't help it but his one eye was already looking around, sort of in awe of the place.
"An appointment? Ahh, it seems I've forgotten." Cypress sighed, scratching the back of his head with an awkward laugh. Ms. Sybil only nodded, and walked to a back room to gather the pokemon for viewing.
"S-so...Are you a trainer or researcher?" he asked politely, turning around to pick up the papers that had dropped on the floor previously.
"I'm a trainer sir," Hector said, kneeling down and helped pick up the paper, handing them to the professor. "My folks were breeders before the scourge, but now...Now I guess I want to be a trainer and help where I can." It was partially the truth anyways.
"Not to sound to excited," he said, smiling," but do I get to see the pokemon soon." He it was nearly coming off him in waves, and he was almost vibrating with it. He hadn't had a pokemon in years.
A trainer, a trainer. Right! "Of course! Ms. Sybil should be returning soon with the pokemon..." Cypress mumbled, taking the papers from the trainer's hands. After setting them down on a nearby desk, a door clicked open and soon a group of pokemon lead by the tall Ms. Sybil entered the room.
"Aha! There they are! Feel free to meet them all and choose who you'd like to start your adventure with!"
Hector stopped, looking at the Pokemon in front of him of him and felt torn and fascinated at the same time. "So the rumors of the vaccinated Pokemon are true. They do turn into different colors when they get vaccinated." He smiled, knelling down to look at them all.
"Who are you?" he asked, seeing the little yellow Riolu in the back, not really looking at him. Most of them were crowded around him, not even looking at him but the little one was being kind of sky and hanging back. He tilted his head, looking at it and smiled, asking," you shy little one?" The Riolu looked at him, a confused look as it walked forward, and poked him on the nose. He blinked, smiling as the Riolu smirked back, turning around, giving off the whole," I don't care if you pick me or not," vibe. Hector laughed, picked the Riolu up, setting the Pokemon on his shoulder. Course, then Riolu just hit him on the head and jumped off.
Hector laughed, saying," Sorry guys. I like the odd one out," To the others. Riolu just had a smug look on his face as the others left. "Your gonna be a handful, aren't you?" Hector asked, looking at his new partner, and Riolu refused to give him the satisfaction of knowing Hector got it head on. Hector just laughed, turning to the professor and said," I think I got my answer. Thank you sir."
"Wonderful wonderful!" Professor Cypress clapped his hands together. It was wonderful to see the bond formed between a beginning trainer and his first partner pokemon.
"Oh, don't forget to take these with you as well!" The male called, reaching into his deep coat pockets to fish out a few items for the new trainer...
"Oh, thank you," Hector said, taking the Items the professor gave him. He smiled, looking down at Riolu and asked," You ready for this partner?" Riolu only gave him a over the shoulder look of "duh". Hector smiled, looking back to the professor.
Hector put his right fist into his left palm in front of him and have a bow to the professor. "Thank you professor. With out this, I couldn't have started." Hector left out the," Well not easily and not without getting my self hurt along the way." He smirked as he straightened, looking down at Riolu, then the door. "Lets go partner." Hector walked over to the door, opening it as Riolu made a clear," I'm going first," Move and walked out first. Hector chuckled, fitting the pokeballs Into the custom pokeball belt that his parents made. He ran his finger over it, looked back to the professor and waved, walking out the door.
