This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Hector smiled as he and Riolu walked out of the town, heading towards the next one. Course, he didn't really have any idea where he was going. "You sure it's this way Riolu?" he asked, looking at the map in Riolu's hands. Riolu gave him a look, and hector rolled his eye, looking at the map again and seeing where they were. "Ok, so we just take this route out this way, and we should be at the next city in no time. Huh. Kind of a buzz kill really." He smirked, and Riolu looking at the map still.
"Hold on," Hector said, looking up as he heard a noise. "I heard something little dude." Riolu looked up, looking around, and annoyed look on his face. He hated that nick name, just hector loved to use it. Hector walked over to one of the trees, looking up and saw some berries hanging in the tree. "Drat. Those are oran to. I don't have the right case to hag on to those. Still." He smirked, picking to and sitting down. "Snack time?" He asked, handing one to Riolu. Riolu looked at it, then just shrugged and walked up, taking a bit from his as Hector ate his. They were good. "Wish I had the right bag to properly store these. But ether way, it makes a good travel snack for now." Riolu nodded, happily munching on his berry.
Felizia made sure to always walk either alongside Mensa or in front of him – never behind. She was starting to regard the Girafarig’s tail with some sort of superstition now. Besides, it was just plain creepy. It probably had a brain as well as a face. Ugh, that would make the tail ten times creepier.
Her Pokemon stopped and made a low sound. “What?” Felizia followed its gaze to a fruiting tree, with some people picking at its berries. “You just ate an hour ago.” The Girafarig tried to give her a pleading look, but when that didn’t work, he snorted and walked over to the tree anyway, with or without his owner. And Felizia didn’t trust the world enough to let Mensa do something on his own, even if Juno City was one of the safer cities around.
As Mensa started to eat a hanging berry, Felizia stood by her Pokemon, patting its back. She turned to the the other person and his Pokemon. “Having a nice dinner there? I heard they taste better if you deep-fry them and cover them with sugar.” Lies, of course. Who would actually consider eating a berry that was like that?
Hector reached up, grabbing another berry as he finished the first as a Girafarig came up and started to munch as well. Hector and Riolu both stared, then looked at each other. Wild Pokemon rarely came up to a different trainer, if ever. So, this meant a trainer or a weird one. Ether way, cool.
"option one huh," Hector thought, taking a bite as the trainer came up. He tilted his head at her suggestion, and looked at his watch. It was barely 1. Still, it was all ways a good topic to discus. Dinner. Hector thought about what he was gonna make, but Riolu made a move, using his shoulder to hop up into the tree, striking a berry down and grabbing it, taking a bite and breaking hector out of his thoughts.
"Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I'll try it." It would make a good sauce is fried first, then boiled, add in some sitrus berries and then maybe some.... hector's thoughts were broken as Riolu dropped another berry on his face. Hector picked it up, stopping his rapid thoughts.
"Names Hector Coldhart by the way, and the cranky one is Riolu." Hector smiled as another berry went by his head, only missing because he tilted his head. He was getting used to all of Riolu's antics. What he didn't see was the second berry coming that landed in his lap. He smirked, picking it up and offering it to the lady next to him. " Maybe you can show me your recipe some time." He has a smirk on his face as he said it, clear he knew she was sarcastic even though he did consider it.
Mensa was oblivious to the stares. The only things that existed to him right now were the berry tree and its berries. Oh, and maybe Felizia, if she said his name. As the Girafarig ate his fill, Felizia raised an eyebrow at how the Riolu was dropping berries on its trainers head. “Assassination attempt?” she asked the Pokemon with a grin.
When offered a berry, Felizia took it, but eyed it suspiciously before using the same look on Coldhart. “Mens,” she said, tapping her Girafarig’s neck and offering him the berry. He ate it without a single thought.
“Sorry, the recipe’s a family secret,” she said to Coldhart, abandoning her suspicious look for her previous grin. “Passed down for generations and generations. Great-great-great-great-great-great-great—” Ugh, that was a lot of ‘great’s. “—Grandpapa got the recipe from one of the legendaries.” Complete lies, of course. But the excessive use of the word ‘great’ gave that away, and that’s not even getting into the debate of a legendary’s cookery knowledge.
“So, what are you?” Cranky was vaccinated, so she figured the two were in the EOS Program, but indirect questions were always more fun. Who knew when someone would look a little confused and say that they were a person.
Riolu smiled at the girl as he tossed a berry up and down. He looked down at them and took a bite from it, a little juice dripping down his face before he wiped it off and flicked it down. Hector just dodged it with a tilt of his head and looked back at the girl.
"To bad. I'm a pretty good cook. Not by choice though. Long story." He chuckled at that, and then looked up saying," And if you want me to cook tonight, your gonna stop throwing those things at me." He finished that as Riolu had one primed, but then he stopped. He smirked, looking at the girl.
"What type of question is that? I think You can tell I'm a person. Though I am a trainer and the son of breeders. Might have been one if not for this damned scourge." For a second, Hector's whole body language changed from relaxed and goofy to Furious and Malevolent, a face hiding back a wave of Hatred and revenge, then back to his relaxed manor. Riolu didn't pick it up, having been looking at the sky, but she would have been able to pick it up easily.
'Anyways, I can assume that we are both in the EOS program right? You got the look of a trainer on you, and you didn't freak when you saw that Riolu was yellow so I'm gonna assume that." Hector felt a paw touch his shoulder as Riolu climbed down to the ground.
A smile – so it was an ‘assassination attempt’ then? Felizia nodded at the Riolu approvingly. Of course, if she knew what it was like to have half-eaten fruit thrown at you, she wouldn’t have found the attempts so interesting to watch. And to her surprise, Cranky actually stopped when told to.
“Oh really? I thought you were an Aipom,” Felizia retorted, almost pleased that her indirectness had done its job – except that it hadn’t. Coldhart still answered and said he was a trainer. Little surprise there. And although Felizia did notice the momentary change in Coldhart’s body language, she didn’t interpret what it meant. Frankly, trying to understand her own feelings was challenging enough; it wasn’t worth the hassle of trying to understand anyone else.
She frowned at the question; people always mistook her for a trainer. “Actually I’m a bre—wait.” The gears finally clicked in place. Almost. “You’re a Coldhart, aren’t you? And you said your parents were breeders…” Felizia had reached that irritating point where she recognised a name – definitely, absolutely, surely knew she knew it – but had no idea who it belonged to. “Where did you say you were from…?”
