name Deryn Jodie Altar age Eighteen class Trainer hometown Sol City personality Deryn Altar is first and foremost a selfish, proud, stubborn young woman who very rarely does things for something other than her personal benefit. She is quite unfair and judgemental, but this comes from a paranoid fear that everyone else is unfair and judgemental towards her; even if they don’t say it, she’s convinced they’re thinking it. She will never admit it, but Deryn is very sensitive to criticism. She’s too proud to cry over it but she’ll snap back with a catty comment and do her best to prove you wrong. If you ever want Deryn to do something, you have to trick her into it; tell her that she’s unable to do it, and she will do it, and she will do it damn well. That’s the one thing she enjoys the most: proving people wrong, and she has an almost endless determination when it comes to that. Unfortunately, she’s only vaguely aware of this part of her personality, and oblivious to how easy she can be manipulated once someone knows how she ticks. history Deryn was born with a mother and a father, but in recent years her mother has died, her father remarried, a step-mother and step-siblings came into the picture, and her father and step-mother are now expecting their first child together, in a few months time. She does not like any of these changes. At all. And she refuses to adjust to them. Getting away from the unwanted change to her family’s structure is only a small reason why she signed up to the EOS Program. The main, big reason is when her former Elite Four member grandfather died, his will said that she could only inherit her money if she defeats the region’s Gym Leaders (thankfully there was no mention of the Elite Four as well) – something which you need to be a trainer to do. The other big (almost big ger) reason? Her step-mother said that she wouldn’t be able to do it. “That’s not really your thing.” “Don’t be silly, you wouldn’t last five seconds against a Gym Leader.”She planned her trip to Juno City that night. (And the scourge? She isn’t about to let some stupid virus get between her and the path to her inheritance. They'd best get out of her way and stay out of her way.) During 6 month time skip:- Did trainer stuff. Got seven badges. Her Pokemon became stronger.
- That's it, really.
- Bragged about the badges to her step-mother as soon as she returned to Sol City.
After 6 month time skip:(aka, now) - Step mother, and every other bloody relative, gave her the same speech. It went something like this: "You have a strong Pokemon team but you haven't fought the scourge? At all? Why the hell not?!"
- Step mother proceeded to bait her, saying things like Deryn was incapable of caring, that she wasn't even that strong and would lose instantly in a fight versus the scourge.
