This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Juno City was nice and all. Being from Hespera, Lucas had been subjected to a less than pleasant situation for a while. It was refreshing to see a city that wasn't crowded by people with no where to sleep or eat. It was a good note for one to start on. That was probably why the professor's office was in this nice little place. On the subject of the professor, he needed to get a move on. He wanted to get his first Pokemon on good time so he could begin his long journey down the road of researching. Luckily for him the professor's lab wasn't all that hard to find.
He approached the door with a stride of confidence in his step. He didn't pause as he reached it, and simply pushed it open. Poking his head inside to catch a glimpse the young researcher spoke up. "Hello? Is the Professor in?" That was probably a dumb question to ask, but it was a polite thing to ask. He stepped into the laboratory regardless.
no, he is not, came the telepathic voice from ms sybil, the professor's gothitelle assistant. mr krauss was off to the side, feeding some rattata scraps of bread.
ms sybil was prompt and neat as always. it reached out to the young man mentally, before prompting him to fill out some forms. once that was done, ms sybil gestured for lucas to follow her to the glass cases, where the pokéballs were kept.
Well, that was certainly not what he expected. Lucas had assumed a human would be greeting him. At least one of the Professor's aides. Instead he got two psychic Pokemon who communicated via their telekinetic powers. Neat. After filling out his proper forms and all sorts of other nonsense he would have rather skipped he complied with the gothitelle and walked over to the glasses cases.
"So... what's in stock?" It sounded impolite to refer to living things as simple items, but considering this was a Pokemon lab...
As Lucas looked over the display before him, one Pokemon stood out. It was... different looking. Intriguing even. It seemed to have a rather unique quality which he believed would link up well with his own traits. He pointed towards the lone Solosis among the group of Pokemon. "I'd like that one, if you would be so kind." He asked the psychic guide Pokemonm politely.
the solosis bobbed over to lucas, and ms sybil tossed him the pokéball through telekinesis. the gothitelle reached over and handed him the starter pack for researchers as well, and wished him the best of luck on his journey to collect pokédex entries.
stay safe from the scourge, at least, before you get stronger pokémon. best of luck!
