This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

A nice safe place to train. Not near as exciting as fighting the scourge but it would have to do for the time being. He only had a little sludge ball for a Pokemon for the time being. Lucas pulled the Pokeball which held his trusty partner and tossed it out. Mr. Binks appeared from it in a brilliant flash of light, bouncing up and down on the ground as a result of the viscous liquid he was trapped in and the height of his fall. Looking at his partner helplessly flop around like a bouncy ball made Lucas really question his motives for selecting this Pokemon for his starter, but maybe it would evolve into something more... stable.
Once Mr. Binks had settled himself, Lucas called to him. "Rollout, Mr. Binks! Let's see how fast you can get!"
<'But sir... I don't want to roll...'> The Solosis replied nervously.
"Nonsense. It's one of your main attacks! Now roll, Mr. Binks!"
Lucas found out that having Mr. Binks roll around was a bad idea. He also purchased an ice pack later that day for his feet.
After a toe crunching bad time during their last training session, Lucas wasn't exactly excited to bring his partner back here. Maybe they would just lay off the rolling out and focus on the psychic portion of his Solosis' powers. He released Mr. Binks from his Pokeball, watching the gel ball bounce up and down once more. Once he steadied himself, Lucas gave him an order.
"Use your Reflect."
<'But sir... there's no one to fight.'>
Lucas walked towards the side of the small training room, and gripped a lever. "Use Reflect, Binks!" With that, he tugged it down. A built in cannon across the room dropped out of the wall. It was probably used for agility training. Or in this case, shooting directly at his Pokemon. It fired a rubber ball at Mr. Binks! Valiant as he ever could be... Mr. Binks rolled out of the way like a frightened child. Which caused the ball to strike the ground, bounced and hit Lucas in the face.
It wasn't going to happen again. Lucas wasn't going to sustain any injury while training his Solosis. Well, that's what he told himself. Whether or not that would actually happen was to be seen. Poor Mr. Binks seemed timid at the very thought of having to train more. He didn't like hurting Lucas! It only earned him dirty looks and grumbling for the hours following it. He didn't even have the heart to read his trainer's mind out of fear of the thoughts.
"Okay. We're going to try something new. Psywave!" That sounded safe. No physical objects, no rolling over feet. Nice, safe, psychic energy. The targets had even been set up before they had arrived. Perfection.
"Now, use Psywave on each of the targets!" The ommand was out. Mr. Binks bounced a little before he shot out a wave of rings towards the targets. One target hit, two! It was going so well. Too well. The same person who had set up the targets had carelessly left a mirror out in the field. Probably for fighting types to box in front. You know what happened next. The rings hit it, bounced back, and struck Lucas right in the head
