This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

There was a difference between dreaming and being in the Dream World. In all honesty, Chloe wasn't sure which she preferred best. Since the event a year ago, the teenager, more often than not, found herself aimlessly wandering different areas of the Dream World. She could still remember her first experience as fresh as day; it had been when she finally, body no longer able take the exhaustion, crashed after the decision was made to put the infected Pokemon down. To her, the Dream World was an escape. A place where she could hide away from the reality of where she truly belonged. It was her own personal Nirvana.
So, naturally, you'd think Chloe would automatically choose this over normal dreaming. But there were some good points to the other. Although she was often plagued by nightmares, she was able to see her Prince Charming. Instinctively blood rushed to her cheeks, the pink beginning to blossom easy to spot on her pale skin, at the thought of the black haired male. Why yes, she did indeed have a Prince Charming (well, she wasn't sure if she could call him all that charming in real life) in mind. It wasn't your generic blonde haired pretty male riding atop a steed of white. Although.. He did occasionally show up to save her.
Sigh. She always was the damsel in distress, wasn't she? One day.. One day she'd work up the courage to tell him how she felt. Until then, though, she was content with aimlessly wandering around the City of Dreams. She had no real destination in her head. She rarely ever did, really. Just being in this land of make-believe, in this land of hope, was enough to make her chest feel like with content.
Lucas had come to the dream world in the hopes of researching the Pokemon there. Why would he rest during his dreams if he had the chance? The dream world was filled with Pokemon that would be far more difficult to find in the world, all with unique abilities compared to their real world counterparts. It would be a good opportunity. Maybe he could even battle some to help train Mr. Binks. Unfortunately for him, or fortunately depending upon how you looked at the matter. He didn't find some kind of rare snake Pokemon, or a beetle creature. Instead he found a wandering girl with pink hair which seemed to match the color of her cheeks as she daydreamed. He recognized this girl well. Huh. What were the chances of him running into her?
They were unlikely. But possible. She hadn't seemed to notice him yet, so he would have to start this conversation off. He made his way towards the girl, smiling a tad as he got close enough to call out to her. "Hello, Chloe." He greeted. "Odd meeting you here." He hadn't seen her since he left his hometown of Hespera. He felt a little bad about leaving her after her farm had gone to hell, but Eos called to hin.
It was true that Chloe did not realize that she was being approached. She was too busy using what the Dream World was used for; dreaming. Well, perhaps more like daydreaming considering she was already.. What would she even call this since she was technically already dreaming? We'll just go with she was too lost without her thoughts that she didn't spot the approaching figure until they spoke, "Hello, Chloe." That voice. She knew that voice all too well. It was the same voice that gently caressed her in her actual dreams, professing his love to her.
"L-Lucas!" The surprise in her voice only caused her cheeks to darken more. That didn't sound suspicious. Noooo. Not at all. She didn't sound as if she had been fantasizing of him. Yep. This was her Prince Charming. The way that her heart sped and tried to break through her chest was all that proof that was needed. Luckily, he couldn't hear it. ... Right? At least not from this distance. Oh dear gosh. What if he could? This was a world of make believe, after all.
Which made her wonder.. What were the chances of meeting up with him here, of all places? Rarely ever had she actually encountered another human being. Pokemon, sure, but not another human being, despite often wandering around near the outskirts of the city. Then again, she had never truly actually went into it.
Or perhaps, perhaps she had summoned him here due to her wishful thinking. No, that couldn't be it. One had to be sleeping to enter the Dream World. Unless her thinking made him randomly pass out. Oh gosh! Just imagine how terrible that would be depending on what he was doing.
There was also one more possibility. Perhaps.. They were both dreaming of each other? As much as her logical mind tried to roll its eyes at this, her emotional side seemed deadset on this. Could it be that he shared the same feelings she did? After all, what was the chances of him randomly appearing out of no where?
Realizing that she had gone deathly quiet she nervously chuckled, fiddling around with the edge of her shirt. "Hah.. Yeah! That is, uhm, weird." Or you could call it fate. "How are you? And what are you doing here?" Chloe quickly and abruptly threw that last part in, hoping to hear what her heart so desired. This couldn't be just a coincedence.
She hadn't changed a bit in the few weeks they had been apart. Still zoning out. She must have been embarrassed about it, with how red her cheeks were growing. She was an odd girl. She seemed to have frozen after she shouted out his name. Normally, he would have carried the conversation on, but this time he decided to wait... and so he waited. A while. Looking at Chloe blankly as she seemed to be trapped in a world of dreams inside of the world of dreams. Finally reality clicked for her and she answered his initial question with one aimed for him.
"I'm doing just fine. Signed up for Eos and got my Pokemon a day or two ago. I'm here looking for Pokemon to research. It's less dangerous to do here then in the real world and I can find a greater variety here." He answered curtly, unknowingly crushing her dreams. "Although, I seem to have little luck. Thus far I've only found a curvy neighbor of mine." He tossed in the curvy part quietly. Not quiet enough for her to not hear it, but quiet enough for her to question her ears. He couldn't just openly make remarks about her body! It would be rude! In his head, however...
"So, how have you been? I'm sorry for leaving so suddenly, but duty calls. At least we can see each other in our dreams?" That could've been taken in a wrong way. But he obviously meant the dream world when he said that. It was much more personal than texting or sending letters.
Naturally, Chloe knew of Lucas' choice to leave for the Eos Program. No, this wasn't because she was a stalker of some sort. She had simply gone to visit him and heard the news from his mom. It was just like him to leave without saying good bye. Everything, in his mind, was a race. Always rush here, rush there; explore this, explore that. Needless-to-say, Chloe was always following behind him or having to drag him out of dangerous situations. She still remembered the one time with the Beedrill hive.. Just thinking about it made her shiver and sent him a combination of a soft pout and glare. Not that he would know why he received these looks.
What really got to Chloe, though, was when Lucas mentioned that he was here to research Pokemon. Out of all of the things you could do in the dream world..! This was practically fate! Couldn't he see it? How could someone so smart be so dense at the same time? It was a miracle, really. "Hah, right. I should have figured that." she tried to keep the disappointment out of her voice. He could just be telling a little white lie. Maybe, maybe he was too afraid to admit his feelings for her.
A blank, confused expression made its way to Chloe's face when she thought she heard the words "curvy". What? Clearly puzzled, she kept replaying his sentence again and again in his mind. Had he actually.. or were her ears just playing tricks on her? And out of all of the things he could have complimented her on! If he did indeed say that, that is. "Well," she responded, one hand on her hip, "I'm sorry to disappoint you."
Just when Chloe was sure she had regained her composure and that every trace of colour was off of her face, it lightened right back up when he said the line "at least we can still see each other in our dreams". For a moment, she looked like a tomato. Were these subtle hints? She could only wish. "No.. I-I understand." Curse her shaking voice. Forcing her mind to go elsewhere and not analyzing the simple phrase he used, she shook her head. It was only natural that Lucas would bolt out. What had happened to their home city.. To her ranch.. To his father. Chloe couldn't help but feel pity gripping at her heart. "It was something you had to do."
"And, actually, I've been doing okay." A cheeky little grin spread across her face before she continued on, "I was actually accepted into the program, too. I am headed to Juno right now. Well, er, not at the moment considering I'm currently here.. but I should be there shortly."
