This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

The Smoochum had been wondering what all the commotion was about. The Pokémon yawned boredly. Trainers. Peh. The boy/man sounded more like a Pokémon if he were to ask the Smoochum, what with all that barbaric yawning. She rolled her eyes. Here they went again. The Pokémon leaned her weight on an empty crate, eventually managing to topple it over. She was a mischievous little Pokémon, and there was nothing she enjoyed more than bothering a trainer who wandered into the warehouse.
After the coughing stopped, Vincent noticed that the dust had come from a crate landing right beside him, probably after dropping from one of the top shelves. Something told him that it hadn't fallen quite by itself. While drying off his glasses, which were now full of dust, Vincent stepped back from the shelves and noticed something yellow and fluffy up where the crate had fallen from. Vincent put on his glasses again, and he saw it clerly. There was a pokemon up there!
He didn't know what it was, but he sure wanted revenge! With a solid conviction, Vincent threw a pokeball. "Let's go, Vizor!" he said, and out leaped a patrat. Vizor was in some ways mechanic in his ways, and didn't need to pause before landing a solid iron tail on the shelf, towards the foe, so that the shelf broke and became impossible to stand on. Landing on the ground again, he awaited the opponent's response.
Ah, a Pokémon. Just as the Smoochum had expected. Humans seemed to be carrying them around all the time nowadays. Not that they didn't carry Pokémon in the past, but the little ice-type Pokémon knew how imperative it was to keep Pokémon about in order to stay safe. Not since the Scourge showed up. Of course she knew. She had seen them outside of the city, the way their eyes glowed red and black liquid oozed from their mouths. She had seen it all. This Patrat was nothing compared to them. Still, the Patrat's Iron Tail attack smarted, and that's when she knew the Pokémon meant business.

Even though the scout pokemon had been prepared for the foe's counter attack, the blast of snow threw hum off guard. The damage done was bitterly cold, but there was no time to waste. The opponent aproached Vizor, seemingly in an attempt to kiss him. It had to be a trap, he thought, and swiftly dodged backwards.
What was that? The Smoochum tried to kiss him? Vincent had seen it happen, and he knew that the kiss was fatal in many cases. He had to strategically avoid the move at all costs. "Vizor, use leer!" he commanded. The Patrat was baffled by the choice of move his master had made, preferring to plant a tail of steel in the foe's face rather than to stare her down. However, a command was a command, and Vizor always followed orders.
Vizor was hit by powder snow! Vizor dodged sweet kiss! Vizor used leer!
Fortunately for the Smoochum, her sheer swagger was enough to avoid the Patrat's leer. She wasn't bothered by it at all. In fact, the little kissy Pokémon batted her lashes and grinned at the Pokémon. At least he was entertaining, she supposed. She tossed her short, bobbed blond hair over a shoulder. It was going to take a little more than some scary eyes to bother her. Actually, it was really cute that the Patrat was trying so hard. So she puckered her lips again for a second smooch.
